No clue.........if they were all that proud of their barrels they may want to mention "whos" blank they are using....they chose not to.

They are using Green Mountain barrel blanks. All I've heard are good things about these barrels.

Mike Bellm has looked at some of these and commented that the chambering and throating is done right. Not as common an occurrence as we would like to think.... Wink

I have three and each shoots into one hole.

Turn around is faster than any. $248. for most 14"+ barrels. Paul sent me a second(s) barrel
to check out and it even shoots into one hole.

He will have dies for the wildcats shortly.

All good here and Green Mtn barrels are truely
a fine item.

Hey Steve,

I guess that means he's installing the heavy-duty locking bolt spring that Mike makes as the "standard" spring.

Does anyone know if there is someone making locking bolts for TC barrels besides TC? I ordered 2 sets recently and ended up paying over $25 for both sets including shipping. Pretty steep seemingly, but maybe I'm just cheap. Wink

I have a stash of them that I keep to avoid dealing with TC on them. I have a set of the older style with the seperate floating release pin and some of the newer ones that the bolts are cast with the 'ears' on them.

They are not listing Encore barrels, but I notice ncooper has one. Are they special order only?

This is a personal E-mail for Mike Sorios owner and inventor of OTTechnologies. I have some barrels from him that are state of the art. He builds them from scratch with everything his own design. He may make the locking bolts also?

He also advertises and has his own thread on specialtypistols.com (forums)

Hope this helps

One hundred yards sir!

I start each new barrel at 50 yards! If it doesn't eventually shoot three shots into one ragged hole the barrel is sent down the road.

I currently have 10-12 barrels that will literal make one hole with some hole cutting depending on me.

I move to a hundred: If all shots are not overlapping at least, then I see what I can do to make them overlap. The exception to this rule
I had self imposed is, if I can hit a clay bird every shot at 300 yards with a particular barrel. My most accurate barrel to 200 is actually two barrels .223 Contender and .444 Marlin also in Contender. The new 30 X 444 I had made for my wife I am sure will shoot under an inch at 200 yards. My .358 Win with 180gr Hornady shoots 5" at 500 yards. My wife shoots stick pins through the board with her 223 at 100
yards.

This shooting is done with Bi-pod and sandbag. Absolute Deadrest! Not one barrel is a factory barrel.

That is certainly impressive shooting on both the part of you and your wife, and of course the gun has to do its' part as well!

You note that none of your barrels are factory. If you don't mind my inquiry, besides, Coyote Guns, what other barrel makers products do you have?

SSK very old and I got it from someone else.
Mike Bellm in Oregon, David white in New York.
Friend in the T/C custom shop! I actually I am not completely accurate as I was going through the vault last night getting ready for the range this morning. The .223 and the 7-30 waters are both factory barrels!
It does help in my accuracy when I shoot between 5000 and 10,000 rounds a year. OTT is building a .338 X 06 as we speak and I also have a .444 and 500 S&W from OTT that shoot
exceptional.
I am fortunate that my wife learned to shoot well and doesn't spend much time at the range.
If she shot 1/4 as much as I do she could out shoot me. Don't tell here though! I love it when she shoots one of those awesome groups and sez beat that and I still can. My eyes are taking a hit so being 20 years younger and putting on makeup every day kind of giving her the edge.

I hunt at super long range so I must have accuracy so all I have to do is dope wind and
know my holdover. Started using a range finder as judging ranges is getting more like a crap shoot past 300 yards.

Are you into handgun hunting?

Neal,
You peaked my interest when you said you hunt at super LR. Is that with a specialty handgun?
If so, what are they chambered in and what animals/distances are you talking about?
I also enjoy LR with a specialty pistol.

I just now made the connection with you on the other web forum. I think I am outgunned here
XP- I haven't checked back but are you one of those that had something to say about David White? Just curious is all

ANy way. Currently I am shooting the .35 Whelan Ack Imp. Now this does not seem like
a long range caliber but I have to carry it for the 1200 pound dogs that roam and hunt where I hunt. I have seven bear working my stream next to the cabin from now until Oct. I have to walk right by their bedding area. The clip I spoke and the White opponents attacked was on my wifes converted .308 Win. Its now a .308 Alpo so I am going to asume you know what that is. It is smoking and my wife doesn't even know what she has now. I was shooting 5 inch groups
at 500 yards with both the Alpo and the Whelan!
Kind of handicapped with a 7 power scope but it works great to 600 yards on deer and sheep.

Sure is nice to talk with someone who appreciates what guys like you and I do. I shot my Brown Bear last year at 200 and nearly everyone accused me of accidently breaking its neck. Inadequate caliber so it was break the neck or nothing. You guys saw Lisa's Goat taken at 225 and appreciated. Others accused me of shooting!

In answering how far. With this setup I will shoot to 600 yards without hesitation. When Mike at Ott gets done with my .338 X 06 the range will increase along with scope power. I do not like the bullet choices for long range in the .35 caliber. BC is much better in the 180gr Accubond in .338. The 200 grain Barnes
won't open up past 300 yards in the .35 caliber.

I have my wifes sights set on a 6 X 284 but she too enjoys busting clay without thinking. Her .308 Bellm is a dead on hold at 300 and she breaks the clay birds every shot.SOme times we are separated on top of the mountain when I am trying to sneak her and I up on smart Mega bucks.
She feels very undergunned with less than a 284
with 150 Partition(bears) ! SO she may put the nicks on a different caliber for her. I have no reason to shoot past 600 in this mountain country.

Thanks for asking. By the looks of my book I just wrote apparently I needed to blab.

Neal,
My user name is the same over at SP. David built me a 6mm-284 XP that is a real sweety.
I responded today after Kim/fixinit posted. I am also a moderator on David's site.
It's good to know someone else loves the LR game. I just read your post and responded over there about how it did at 500 yds. Good shooting.
Is Mike going to do the 338-06 or the 338-06 Imp?
The cartridges you are shooting will suit you well being in bear country. Elk is hte biggest critter I will encounter. Love to do caribou and some other alaskan critters but I have just never made it up there.
You might talk to Richard Graves / Wildcat bullets (Canada) and he can probably build you a bullet that will have a thinner skin to open up at lower impact velocities. It is his 200 grain ULD RBBT that I will exclusively in my 7mm Dakota XP. Well, if I was going for dangerous game I would change bullets Cool
With the dakota I am comfortable taking game beyond 6. Glad you are on the sites.

Thanks Ernie

You are talking to someone that can hook you up on 450lb deer with funky looking antlers. (Caribou) 2008, Aug I will be in the Brooks range for sheep griz and caribou. There is well over 200,000 animals with the Artic and Porcipine herds summering right there. The lake is full of Rainbow, grayling and Lake trout. Hasn't been hunted in over twenety years according to the pilot for the area.

Let me know and thanks for the bullet tip. The .338 accubond opens at 1200 and stays together at 3000 so In the stock .338 06 I will have a super long range killer.

See ya next week. Heading out in the boat for our cabin for the weekend

Regards

Neal
