simple blasting caliber simple to reload carbide dies avaiable not to expensive for factory ammo yet able to really blast thinks really good like small critters with hollow points. No 22 lr as I already have 3 a 6.5",10",& a 16.1". I was thinkinh either 9mm, 45acp, 30 carbine? The nine is avaiable cheap enough to not even reload if I buy walmart ammo winchester white box 100@$11 the 30 carbine is a real fast load and makes quite a black but would not be quite up to snuff if I deside on a 6.5" barrel. So any sugestions?

I would get a rimmed cartridge for "blasting". It is surprisingly effective in the 10" barrel as a bonus (1600+fps for the 158 gr. when using Lil'Gun) and you can of course shoot .38 Specials. Of course, this cartridge fits your requirement for a carbide sizing die. It is also easy on powder.

Rimless cartridges are a relative pain to load and withdraw because the extractor must press up against the case to get a "bite" on the extractor groove. This inconvenience is exacerbated by small cartridges.

.357 mag or a .223 will fit the bill. Guess it depends on what "blastin" means to you.

I have a 14" 223 and yes its one of my favorite blasters for shooting clay birds at 100 yards as well as steel gong targets at one of the ranges I use. I also have a 45/70 but thats a bit much for fun shootin. My current barrel list is as follows:
32 Magnum 6.5 TCA barrel
32 magnum 10"
2 8" octagon 45/410 barrels with outside chokes
357 Max 10" with front sight cut off to mount KBI muzzle-break
scoped using T/C quick detachable scope mount
(do they still make this one?) and Leupold 2x EER scope
45/70 super 16 barrel hunter with iron sights
22 lr 6.5 custom barrel
22 lr 10" barrel
22lr super 16 barrel
30-30 super 14 barrel iron sights
223 super 14 barrel with rail mount and early pistol scope.
Looking to add calibers I don't already have but nothing complicated to reload. No bottlenecked rounds unless cheap to purchace.
the 17 mentioned above is a possibility
as are the 9mm mainlynbecouse I have 5ooo rounds or winchester white box from walmart (100 @ $11)
45 acp (I already shoot and reload for)
30 carbine (don't reload for it yet but I have about 1000 stached for my automag III pistol the round is a blast!)
Possible thinkibng about a 38 spec barrel then cutting it to 6.5 for another shorty. (same idea for 9mm & 45 acp)
Any other rounds to consider? Nothing with heavy recoil please I already have 41 & 44 magnum revolvers and don't care for the rounds in the T/C. ell thats about it for my idea sdoes anybody have any others besides these 4 calibers?
So far the choices are
9mm 6.5 TCA
38 special bull barrel cut to 6.5"
45 act cut to 6.5"
30 carbine 10" or 12" or 14" perhaps a 16" carbine maybe a 14" with a 4" muzzle break added by david white for carbine purposes? Or just the 12" for the fun of it?
Question what screw setup do the 12' barrels have? like the 10" 14" or the 16" so I know what forend I need to aquire of pull from my current inventory. (I have about 6 extra forends 2 super 16" 3 10" including 1 octagon forend, & a chote forend which works on a 10" or 14". I could also buy another pachmayr forend I like them. So give me your ideas please thank you for reading my ideas. I find the light to medium kickers to be the most fun in the Contender. I don't like pain which is why my 45/70 is going in for a new muzzle break.

the 6tcu is about all the fun a guy can handle. but it's a reloader only. the 6mm's are very fun shooters. 6mm/.223, and 6x47(222mag case) are a couple others. good accuracy, and versatility from varmint/target to deer with apropriate bullets.

I have a .357 barrel and it is one of the funnest I have. Ammo is plentiful and relatively cheap. Not as cheap as 9mm but much easier to use in the T/C action being rimmed. You can load them as light as special wad cutter loads or stoke it up with serious magnum powders and heavy bullets. Is there an easier cartridge to reload than the .38/.357?
