snowmaker;

A year or two ago, I was ask to reveiew a product called "Sling-It". This sling is made in two models, rifle and pistol. When adjusted correctly, you could extend your arms with the shoulder strap around you and it made a very stable offhand platform. Cliped in the short length the "Contender or Encore" pistol rode very comfortably at your side or on your back. The Savage Striker and XP 100's did not fare as well as the bolt handle at sometime seem to be digging me someplace.

Cost was under $25 for the "Sling-It" and around $40 for the mounting hardware. It's pricy, but a very nice rig.

Problem is, I can't find their email or web site info. I was ask by Wes Glick at KTSAmmo to review this item for the LRHA, maybe he can help. Otherwise, I'll keep looking.

Yep, just sling it,
http://www.jsi-guns-hunting-firearms.com/

We never generated any intrest in these slings and besides the regular T/C hunter sling I think this is the only other one offered. The Sling it requires a little fiddling around with but once it's adjusted properly works great with the exception of that digging bolt handle the Den talks about.

I bought a "sling it" and the hardware to mount through VVC. It works great with the Encore. Buy one today...you won't regret it.

Happy New Year to all... I learned of the "just sling it" thru the folks at Bullberry, you can find reference to them on Freds site. Having used one I can tell you the theory is good the product is good "BUT" if you get at all excited while unpacking this device you run the risk of screwing it up! I seem to have more and more senior moments lately. DO NOT CUT THE RUBBER BANDS! from the end loops. I did ....didn't read the instruction sheet thoroughly and had a hell of a time figuring it all out. This set of instructions ain't the best either! Something else, these devices require a certain amount of force against the swivel studs to steady the firearm. If the studs are not solidly mounted there is a risk of pulling away from the fore end. Jim.....

poppyo9,

What could be added to instruction to help. Been thinking of adding another picture on the ends with swivel studs so you can see how they go and eliminate the written instructions. The rubber bands only show were the swivels go.

Southern Utah, my compliments on your product. Hell, I don't know....... perhaps a video for dummies.... I think an enlarged, clear, two angle picture might be just the ticket.(in addition to the printed form) My failure to comprehend instructions shouldn't be the the only reason to amend the set of instructions you have. Contact me, I'd like to purchase another one. Jim...

I take it that you are with the company that manfactures "Just Sling It". I would like to offer my two cents on issue of the instructions. Like most males, I don't read instruction sheets untill all else fails, anyhow, I'm a mechinal engineer, men don't need instructions, don't you know!

First sugestion, put the sling swivels on the sling instead of the rubber bands. You need them anyway, so cut out a step.

Second sugestion, use less printed word, and more pictures. Us mechinal types are much more likely to look at pictures, than read instructions.

Anyhow, I like the "Just Sling It". It works very well on the Encore and Conterder style pistols, with your mounting hardware.

Thanks to Wes and anyone else who posted a web site, I felt bad about sugesting a product, but not having the address.

LRHA_SHOOTER,
I would love to sell the swivels with the sling but most orders don't want swivels ( extra 9-12 dollars), those that do want either blue,or silver . I haven't been able to get Uncle Mikes to work any dealer prices so mine is the same as the next guy. I have them on the webb site but it is pretty well cost. I have no problem installing them if asked. I wouldn't even mind if someone sent me theirs to install on a sling to save them a few bucks. I found some swivels for a few dollars but they were so bad I didn't even bother let a lone deal with pissed off hunters. I put the rubber bands on to show where the swivels went thinking people would look at them and go to the instuctions to find out what the heck they were for ( back-up ammo ). I too only go to instuctions as a last resort.
Thanks for the input.
Glen

I'd suggest twist ties. Rubber bands come off real easy, you gotta work on twist ties, could even add a tag to the twist tie that says, "read instructions before removing," or, "mount swivel here, and put a chalk mark on the strap.
You ever have these at gun shows? I'm interested, but until I try one I'm not willing to risk the $40 or so (my T/C holster might be slower but it adds protection and was only 44.95 from Warner guns, but then I have to add a walking stick type rest in case of longer shots with no handy tree for a brace. Your JSI might be just the thing but...) I'm in Illinois (Scott AFB near St. Louis, MO) Any dealers in the area carry your product? I pistol hunt with 8 other guys and we're always looking for something better (read new toy).

Bill,
Dealers are Bullberry ( Fred took one to Africa),
Virgin Valley Custom Guns ( they sell the most),
E.A. Brown.
I even flew from Utah to New Hampshire and talked with T/C and Fox Ridge, I got the " Looks great, sure we want to sell them- we will get back to you. " Never heard from them again.
I tried a few gun show out here but all the people wanted was to buy the guns I had for display.
There are more rifle hunters out west than pistol shooters. I havn't tried a show in the East.
When I made the first sling I just wanted something simple that would hold the Contender and free my hands while hiking. I also wanted something that was quick to get into battery. I had holsters for large revolver in the past and didn't like the bulk. I was over at Bullberry and was talking with Justin ( before VVCG ) and he wanted to see it. He liked it and suggested I make a few and he would help me sell them. He later helped create VVCG and they sell more than anyone. Give them a call or e-mail with questions.
