I think I'm going to get the 22-250 right now and get a 270win at tax time, will the 22-250 in a 15" barrel be good enough for coyotes out to 300 yards or should I get a rifle barrel. Is the thompson barrel accurate or should I look at a barrel form eabco they have great prices on barrels right now.

22-250 or 25-06? HARD CHOICE!!!! The two most amazing chamberings in the history of gun making!!!! The 22-250 is capable of things that even Elmer Kieth didn't think of!!! The 25-06 shot ole' Elmers thoughts to hell! BTDT with both!! You can't go wrong with either choice for varmints to deer! The 22-250 isn't legal where I live for deer!!! The next one that falls to it won't be the frst one! Te 25-06 covers all the bases! Legal and lethal!!! Have fun. Enjoy! Best two chamberings ever invented!!! GHD.pastor at the church of GHD....25-06(22-250 is the senior elder at the church!!!)

If you are concerned with hide destruction you may consider a 17 cal. Yes, this may mean you need to look into a 3rd barrel. 25-06 will do just about everything you want.

As far as damage goes, I am real hard pressed to tell
the difference between a hit from a .22-250 fired 55 gr.
Nosler Ballistic tip, and a .25-06 fired 85 gr. Nosler
Ballistic tip. Both are pretty ugly! If you see the
hit, you might appreciate a slightly bigger red mist
cloud, with the .25-06 If I were going to do
the one barrel for varmints, and deer, it would easily
be the .25-06. And for younger/more sensitive shooters,
run some reduced loads through the .25-06, and you will
be right where the .22-250 recoils. I could not choose
one over the other, so I bought the .25-06 first, and
promised myself the next chambering would be a .22-250.
I happily now take both to the range, and can pick the
best of these two tools for the task at hand. I am
sorry, I am not much help with this decision, but I
long ago gave up the notion of one gun does it all.
Now my problem is which rifles, and handguns, get to
go out and play, and which ones have to stay home.

I have just traded one tough decision for another
