62 Approved members now.

I'll be out of town for a hunting trip until Monday so please be patient if you have a pending membership that isn't approved.

Couple of questions..........on the OTT website they don't specify any particular chamberings. Is there any way for me to get some info on that for my Contender or is it safe to assume that Mike can do most any typical Contender rated caliber ? Can the barrels be had with a hanger bar set up to be used with my existing foreends ?

Barrel is a 21" 6.5x225 Improved (aka. 6.5 JDJ). Running 120gr. bullets in the neighobrhood of 2800 and 129gr. around 2700.

Been snowing again so I still can't get to the range. Accuracy yet to be determined, but I have a hunch it won't disappoint and I am very particular!

skb2706,

Mike can chamber any round for you that is safe in a Contender or Encore.

He uses CNC equipment and doesn't need reamers.

In case anyone was wondering if Mike's barrels will shoot, I got a 3 shot group today with 129 Hornady SST and Reloader 15 that was .271 center to center at 100 yards.

Not to mention it was windy and raining . Almost all other loads stacked a couple in the same hole and then I had a flyer which would open things to about an inch to inch and a half. I wasn't really on top of my game today since I have been averaging about 3 hours of sleep the last couple of nights, and the 30mph gusts kept sneaking up on me. I guess you can count me well pleased.

I'm leaning toward a 6.5-284 for the encore, but I don't even have an encore yet so I'm holding out to see what the prices look like. Money has been tight recently and I don't see that situation getting any better in the near future.

Friends,

At the request of Mike Sirois I just posted this on the OTT2004 website and thought I should pass it on here.

Sincerely,
$bob$
-------------------
" Mike Sirois wished that I would pass on this information regarding the potential 2004 OTT Barrel Deal.

"Bob, I am truly impressed with the amount of interest you generated on the varying lists to put together a group purchase for the beginning of 2004.

With the year end crunch of projects that are going on and also the workload that is ever present in the shop, I regret to inform you that this group purchase will not be able to be done. I appreciate your efforts and am
surprised to see the large number of participants within the database.

I wish I could commit to filling these requirements but will not because I do see some instances where problems may arise, an example being potential supplier issues which would affect delivery and could become a bad experience for everyone. Regardless, there will be more opportunities down
the road as they present themselves in the future for group purchases. You did a great job and you should also approach this group to see if they would be interested in possibly still working something out with another of your
sources. Just to restate this so as not to be misunderstood, there is not a problem with building these custom barrels and they can be built later in
time....it is the group deal's timing which cannot be committed to. A lot of the individuals in this group are repeat customers for me and I hope, they, along with the others will accept my apologies.

With respect always,
Mike Sirois"

-----------------------

That's it.... I've contacted Virgin Valley and Steve Stratton is working on a group discount right now and those that wish to stay in the group or join now can take advantage of that discount.
