You can send the barrel to T/C and have a muzzel brake installed for about $80 (the last time I looked). T/C brakes have worked well for me. T/C will only put brakes on barrels of their manufacture. A number of custom barrel makers will also put a brake on for you with prices ranging from $150 to $250. I just sent a barrel to Mike Bellm to shorten and put a brake on. His brakes are cut directly into the barrel and, in my opinion, have a cleaner look with no seams, bulges or things to unscrew.

I have two from Mag-Na-Port called the Mag-Na-Break which I can remove and install a muzzle cap if I want. They are great on my .338JDJ#2 w/200grn Accubonds and I have one on my Encore 444 Marlin pistol barrel. Here is a photo of my 338JDJ#2. It cut the recoil in half as far as I'm concerned. You don't quit playing because you get old, you get old when you quit playing.

OTT is the best I've ever used! I have one of Mike Sirois' "shark gill" brakes on a .338 x.376 styer (Mike calls it a 335 OTTR) on a Shilen #4 countour take off barrel. It pushes 210s at 2500 fps, but is an pleasant to shoot as my unbraked .260 w/ its factory barrel. Not to mention this is a gun that shoots between occasional 1/2 MOA 3 shot groups w/ several different loads and bullets.
