I have to buy them new as few folks answered my post but I will get two of the ten inch non-scope holsters and cut one off for the 6.5 inch barreled guns. I will leave enough to have the botton stiched up by a leathersmith or shoemaker at a later date. At least for now I have holsters I should get one for the 14" but I think I will use my gun buckets for that one.
At least I found some real leather holsters on some things I prefer leather to nylon even if the nylon is cheaper.

Hey Jim,
Where did you go to find the holsters? I will be looking for a good hunting holster for the 14" scoped G2. I am looking for a good holster that has a opening flap to cover the gun's openning. Ya seen anything like that in your travels?

i believe thompson center makes a nylon holster with the flap to cover the gun. check at fox ridge outfitters. the TC custom shop. upon searching that site, i found nothing like i mention, but i seen it in a fox ridge catalog. maybe ya could give them a call to see if they still carry it

As far as i know TC still carrys the nylon shoulder/chest holster in stock. the holsters I wanted are simple leather belt holsters for a non-scoped 10" Contender and my 6.5 inch guns as well the 10" holster will do for the 6.5 inchers after I chop off the bottom with a knife. So I plan to buy 2 of them one tochop to fit the shorter guns and 1 to leave stock. These are simply Hunter 1100 model holsters model number 65-975. They do make one that takes scoped guns as well.

Thanks Kyode,
I looked in both the TC and the Fox Ridge cats and didn't find what I wanted for my TC. I do like the Bandito rig for my Super Blackhawk Hunter (.45LC). That's my pig gun.

I do remember seeing a chest rig with a flap and made with the material instead of leather. Leather is fine, but makes a lot of noise in the winter time. Oh well I'll keep look and may get lucky soon.

Check Uncle Mikes they also make a shoulder rig that goes across the chest for the big guns. I don't know about the flap but i had a chest holster from them for my scopes blackhawk at one point until I had a custom belt holster made.

I went to the Uncle Mike's web site and found the holster. It has a removeable flap. It goes for about $63 + s/h. I will be getting one.

I am thinking of getting the leather bandito style holster and belt for my Super Ruger Blackhawk Hunter in .45Lc: http://pistolpackaging.com/ This would be a great rig for hog hunting, I think.
