I have a 10" 6.5 TCU barrel on the way for my Contender but really don't have a powder in the range I need. I do have some IMR4198 that I will probably use for fireforming the cases but it is really too fast for much performance. Has anyone used Benchmark or Alliant's new 10X for this cartrige? I will probably be using 100 and 120 Nosler BTs.

AA lists loads for AA1680 in the TCU and also AA2200 as well as AA2230. From what I have shot them the 4198 seems to split the difference in burn rate between AA1680 and AA2200 (NOT A LOADING RECOMMENDATION and all that other legalese mumbo jumbo)
I use AA# 5 and cast bullets to fireform annealed 223 (military 5.56 and FC) for both 6.5 and 7mm TCU (another load not recommended for sane shooters, just what I do!). Amazing the uses for powder one will find when they have a WHOLE BUNCH of it!

Glenn Fryxell gets 2200 fps out of his 10" barrel with AA2520 from what he told me in an email (good for 200 yard mule deer as he put it) with the Nosler 120 gr. BT bullet.

All just a bunch of unsupported opinions of course! [Wink]
