I have a 12" .357 Maximum barrel for my G2 that I use for deer. I am looking for a higher level of energy for elk that still retains the Max's flat trajectory. I also need a straight wall case that was originally designed for handgun use (state hunting requirement for specific zones). That ruled out a lot of the choices I could have gone for. The plain old .44 Mag can get the energy with a 12" or 14" barrel, but it doesn't shoot as flat as I would like. I got to thinking about a higher velocity .41 Magnum to get the energy and velocity. I found the .414 SuperMag after doing some reading. Brass is available from Starline, and from everything I have read, standard .41 Magnum dies are used with it. It seems like a win-win. Has anybody used one?

I found some answers using the "Find" search. Imagine that! I am going to make the jump and try it. I will add my experiences after I have gotten the barrel, and worked some loads up. Time to get some Decelerator grips...
