If you haven't ordered one yet, you should! It's the coolest thing since I shot my first Contender!
The only problem is now I have to readjust "ALL" my sizing die's. [Eek!] I thought I was really close on my die adjustments... Way Off!! Remember we're talking .001'th's here!! Anyway, it's real rainy here on the Oregon Coast today so I guess I'll just head back up to my Reloading Room!!

Bob

PS. I saw Charlie Daniels last night it concert!Boy what a show!!

Where you sizing your brass too short or too long ? Where you able to make the adjustments with the dies easy enough? How far off do you think they were?

Rich, so far I've looked at the .357 Herrett, the .221 FireBall and the .308 Bellm. All have been on the long side. I had to screw my size die's down a hair to get the proper headspace. Easy enough!! I was out about .004 on the .221, and I'm not going to tell you how far off I was on the .357 Herrett! My .221 barrel has a "0" barrel to frame gap and my .357 Herrett has a .003 gap. I haven't had a chance to shoot any of the "New" loads to see how they perform. The rain here is something else!! I can only hope they shoot better!! They Should!

I'll second that on the rain. I don't know how far inland you are, but it is about 80 miles straight over the mountains to Gold Beach from here. We are still getting a steady downpour on this side of the mountains.

Watch also how much your size die pulls the shoulders back forward. Size a case without the decap stem, get your protrusion reading, then run it back through the die with the decap stem installed.

I was checking out .30 Bellm dies tonight and found the expander ball pulling shoulders forward a LOT.

The indicator may tell you that you need to lube the insides of the necks, go to an eliptical or carbide expander ball, or better yet, where possible get the Redding bushing Full Length dies.

As you may know, we are doing extensive discussion of the Headspace Indicator on the Bellm TCs Newsletter. For those that have not signed up for the Newsletter yet:

Ref. Charlie Daniels, I didn't think anyone could belt out "son of a bitch" like ole Charlie did when I heard him do "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" in Salt Lake City years ago. Talk about expressing conviction! Should of curled the devil's toes! Sure did mine! Quite a performer. Wish I could see him live again.

Mike -

Re: the weather - Sacto is still getting steady downpours and WIND. Lost my fence last night. Gotta love it.

RE: Charlie Daniels. I still remember the story of him pulling the plug on Hank Williams Jr, when Jr was opening for him. Had a tendancy to go long, so Charlie thought he'd show him when it was time to shut it down. Love 'em both, like you would love to see CD live.

Mike-
Will try and call you in the next couple of days. Not getting email to go through to you really stinks.

To keep this on topic - indicators sound COOOOOOL! Will be ordering one after the first.

I did notice on the .221FB that the decap pin was pulling the neck forward. I took me a couple of trys to figure out this was happening.

Mike, Thanks for the hint on different expander stems! I lubed the inside of the necks and this seem to help.

I live 11 miles up the Yachats River. This morning we had so much rain I had to pull the car over for a few minutes. I don't think I've every seen so much rain come down at once! Luckily we haven't had the 100 mile an hour winds they were predicting! [Razz]

The TC-List's "window of opportunity" for the group order of Headspace Indicators (complete with indicator) and just the indicator bases alone is still open if you want to take advantage of the discounted price the group purchase offers.

There are instructions for subscribing to the TC-List further down the list of topics here.

As for you, 1buba, you just keep on waiting 'til the first. That will give me time to plop one in your deserving hands before you whip out the credit card. [Big Grin]

(The nerve of some people, I tell you! The guy pulled my bacon out of the fire when I had trouble with the main website and has continued to work with it extensively, then thinks he has to pay for a Headspace Indicator. Will someone verbally slap this guy around for me?)

All the best.... Mike

Gotta go ship those orders.... forum interlude over. It is just too convenient to go from the store site to AR.

Just recieved the base. NICE! And it is VERY easy to use. Even for an idiot like me.

Mike,
You are a great friend and treat me WAY to good to me.

All the rest of you - for Christmas I pray for each of you a friend like I have in Mike.

1buba,
You are more than welcome.... but you have more coming.

The chamber won't get cut for awhile.... may make you come up here to get it. [Big Grin]

But your stainless .25 cal. 1-12" twist 20" Contender barrel is back from welding.... along with mine.

Just want to say thanks again for all the help you have been with the website. You deserve a lot more by way of thanks from all of us.

Now, isn't that Headspace Indicator just what we have been needing all along? That sure beats guessing where that case head is in relation to the end of the barrel and to the breech face.
