After playin with a couple at the gun show yesterday, I think I want one [Smile]
I thought there prices were kinda high though. Grip, forend and frame were $300.Blue and $325.SS
and right at $400. for carbine without barrels for either. At one table, 209x50 complete was $535. as were most of the other calibers when ya buy the whole set up. Other dealers were more.
What is the going price for the carbine frames with the stock and forend?
Also, any suggestions on a good all around accurate caliber? I'll most likely get a custom bull barrel and would like to stay with a standerd caliber like 270win, 280rem, 30-06 or something like that. [Wink]

Jules
I've been pricing the Encore recently & the $535.00 complete carbine gun is the average price give or take a couple of dollars. VVCG sells Encore frame $335 with trigger job already done.Pistol price a little less. There are a couple of options out there.

As for calibers I was thinking about three 338 Win Mag, 209x50, 257 Roberts Improved.

My only decision would be whether or not to get the frame as a pistol or carbine.Decisions decisions.

You guys might consider contacting Ed Kirkpatrick. As recent as May, he had complete Encore pistols for $415-$470 and rifles for $450. I don't have a recent price list, but it seems that a buddy of his posts here.

Also, you might contact James Lewis. I bought my last new frame from him in Dec of last year for $189.
I don't have the address for either, but if you're interested I'll find them.

Right now there is a nice ss encore rifle in .308 that is at $380.00.

I just picked up a second encore frame and a new ss contender. Now that I am out of funds I seem to see more bargains than I can afford.

Jules Have you tried a wallmart? Over here in the republic of Kalifornia we can still buy the encore Carbine new and Wallmart sells them complete for $450.00. You must pay 50% up front as it is a special order but they have it in 5 days or less.........ofcourse we must wait 10 day anyway.

Just a thought

Rich,

James Lewis' website is "under construction right now. He must be rebuilding it. Try him on his email alewis@peoplepc.com

I'll check ebay and auction arms for his auctions, he generally has a bunch going on.

I should mention that the $189.00 price for the frame was a sale price and you shouldn't expect one that cheap right now. However, I have done business with James on several occasions and he's alwasy given me a very good deal.

Thanks guys, I haven't priced them at local shops yet. That $189. is a killer price. I'll call around tomorrow and see what I can find out. I would like the SS with walnut stock and forarm. I don't know if they come that way or not.
I'll ask Wal Mart to Fireball.

You can pretty much get them any way you want them Jules. I've often thought about a stainless/walnut combo. Almost wish I had went that way with my pistol frame.

My thoughts of an ideal Encore is in SS with a pepper lamanite stock set and a 24" heavy barrel in 270win. It may take a while but i'm workin on it [Wink]

Put together a black frame, stainless barreled, wallnut stocked Encore rifle in 284 last year just because that caliber has intrigued me for so long and that was the cheapest way to scratch my itch. The frame was part of a snythetic stocked Hornet combo....which I had to have for the same reason. Neither have disappointed me. Had to put in one of Mike's springs to get the trigger down around 2.5 lbs tho.

I have a ss/synthetic setup with a Bullberry 270 Win "med varmint" taper 23" bbl.SWEEEEEET!I don't think I would need anything heavier. It is about 9.5 lbs scoped out. From a glance,it looks exactly like my 209x50 setup and handles almost the same too, seeing as Fred modifies a 209x50 fore-end to use his hangar bar system. [Wink] Good choice.
