you'd better NOT be using a 7mm-08 in the G2 Contender!!!! So, I won't give you any loads I use in my Encore. How did you end up with a 7-08 for a Contender anyhow????

Thanks Wolfsangle for getting started for me! I'm planning on using either 140 gr. Accubonds or 150 Scirocco's in this Encore Pistol. Plus I got a couple of hundred of em. I like the performance I get from both of these bullets in my 7mm Rem. Mag. rifle. Has anyone tried these bullets in their pistol's?

Ron, With a 7-08 I doubt if you need a Accubond or a Scirroco type of bullet, unless you are hunting elk class game at shorter ranges. For deer sized game the 120 & 140 NBT's have done a great job for myself and my hunting buddy over the years in both 7mm-08 and 284 Win with barrels from 14-15.75 inches. Sierra's Game King line are also good choice as they have a better/wider (in my opinion) velocity range and still get good bullet performance. I find myself moving to Sierra more in the last several years but at the same time Nosler has always been good to me in both performance and accuracy. Ernie

I know your primary interest is 140 and 150 grain bullets, but have you tried the Hornady 120 grain SSPB/V-Max. Just so I am clear on this suggestion. The 120 Hornady SSPB and the 120 Hornady V-Max are the same bullet. At the beginning of 2004 I saw that the 120 SSPB was absent from their catalog. After speaking with Hornady's head technician he had two 120 V-max's split vetically and sent them to me. They still had the interlock ring. They expand wonderfully out of pistols if loaded at 2800 fps or less and act like a V-max on critters when loaded in rifles and shot at high velocities. Oh, as for powders try XMR 4064 by Accurate Arms. Good powder for the 7-08 Rem. www.accuratearms.com

Thanks to you who have replied, but I got to tell ya Im a little surprised about the few replies this topic has gotten. Ive been shooting this new pistol a bit now and I got to tell ya. Its a shooting SOB. With this 15 barrel, open sights and shooting off sand bags Im nailing one of those 5 splatter targets a 200 yards. With a 100 lookers now are more people just buying ammo off the shelf or is the 7mm08 pistol just so rare that there are just not a lot of 7mm08 pistol owners out there?
