What is the rim size of the 5.6x50R? Just received a batch of the 222 Rimmed which is the same as the .357 Mag. Would like to have a second choice for brass for a 222 rimmed barrel if it is the same or close.

Are you building a little Martini varmint rifle for 222 rimmed. I looked at one and opted for a 218 Mashburn bee. Less powder and 3300fps with 40gn Nosler BT's. Cases are made from 25/20.

The Bertram 222 Rimmed brass will run you in the USA about $1.00 per. Quality looks fine but how long it will last has yet to be determined. There is no headstamp either.

The 218 Bee, 218 Mashburn Bee and 256 Win were all considered but they require the use of pistol powders to achieve the required speeds. It is my experience that slow burning pistol powders just burn to dirty. In carbine length barrels they leave a sewer pipe after each shot. I am considering the 222 Rimmed so I can use cleaner burning rifle powders.

WC51,
What sort of rifle/pistol are you intending to build. In my 218MB I use 14.2gn AR2207 (equiv to IMR4198) in a 22in barrel; works fine with no extraction problems
