After about a month of tring to get a free saturday to shoot, today I was sucessful. First I sited in 10" 44Mag barrel I just bought used for my Contender. It realy has a nice feel to it with the shorter barrel on it. It shot pretty good. I was getting 1-1.5" groups at 25 yards. It probly would shoot better if I could get close to the lands. Seated to the crimping groves the bullet is still .140 off the lands. I shot up all my ammo for the 44 so I moved onto the Striker. The Striker[243 Win] did not work out so well. I moved out to 50 yards. Max distence I have availible to shoot at this time. I have a Redfield 2-6 scope on the Striker. I had it on 6x. I am working up loads for the 90gr Nosler Balistic Tip using IMR 4064 and IMR 4320. I was getting groups of 5-6" at best some of the bullets holes were not even on the paper. I was going nuts! I thought I had a bad gun. I only had 2 rounds with Balistic Tips left and 3 rounds 85gr sierras. 2 rounds 65gr HP. I set the scope on 3x and shot the remaning rounds. The 2 BT were touching each other. The 3 85gr spitzers had a .940 group and the 65gr hp were touching each other. All groups were 4" high. Has anyone seen a scope shoot good at low power and terrible at its high setting. I have heard of them changing point of aim from low to high but never losing total accuracy[1" groups to 5-6"groups]. I checked it with my bore sighter and could see no difference between the low and high settings. I wont know until I get back to the range and try it again but it seems I have a bad scope. At least I hope I have a bad scope. It still was a good day at the range. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, Lone Hunter

No... but I have seen a few people who shoot better with a lower power scope than they do with a higher one. (mostly mental)

Could you be one of those people? Or is it just that one scope?

From a scope standpoint, it doesnt make too much sense.

Poss Cas. But I was on sand bags the hole time and the cross hairs never left the orange dot until the gun went off. I dont think I had 2 shots with in 1" at 6x. Time will tell. Lone Hunter
