There's been some talk of the "G-2" and Encore over the old Contender, because you don't have to break the frame to recock it. This doen't bother me and has never caused me a problem.
But last week i was shooting a lever action rifle with a stupid cross bolt safety. Three times it got accidentaly put "on". Three times the hammer fell with a click instead of a boom. And three times I cycled the action half way open and closed it, before recocking the hammer with my thumb. Everytime after I did it I thought to myself.. "What the hell was that?"
After the third time I realized... ah.. stupid. Too many contenders.

Don't know whose lever gun you had but someone is making a bypass for the Marlins. If you need I can find out who it was. Sometimes it is real frustrating going from on type firearm to another. Or for that matter an earlier to later model of the same gun.

With the Marlins you can also lock them on safe or fire by tightening up the ball detent set screw inside the frame.
