Great shooting Ike. I just got home from the LA club. We had a weekend of shooting. I picked up an XP100 built by Wes Ulglade. It has a Dewey trigger and thumb whole stock. It is chambered in 7mm Ulglade.(7TCU). Now if I can just get the dreedmore posistion, my bad eyes and using open sights down pat I might be getting close to you I did shoot a 40 round match with it. No sight settings or spotter but I managed to get a 12 Rich

Good job IKE! I would rather miss a ram or two as a chicken. Are you shooting the 130's all the way through? I do take it these were full size. I have dropped down to 140's in my 7 BR and they are quite slow on the rams, and I would wonder on some of the harder set rams or a wind from behind them? I still have not gotten my XP in 7 IHMSA fired up and running. I have a couple hundred rounds of brass ready and that is about it. I need to get a new set of sights for it, as it had the apature ghost ring Lyman for a rear and a little Lyman type front hood. I just hate to turn loose of the $$ for a set of Bomars at the moment. Rich, You'll should really like that XP in 7TCU, it's a accurate cartridge, light on recoil and a no brainer to load for. I've got a Dewey trigger on my XP in 300 Whisper and really like it, my other two are just plain ole factory triggers that were reworked locally and down to 6ozs. In my 14" Contender in 7TCU I shoot 140gr Sierras over 26.0grs of IMR4895 all the way through for big bore full size. Jeff, Yep I was shooting big bore full size and I use the same 130gr load all the way through from chickens to rams.....I ain't rung a goat yet. Sean, Sorry I don't have a digital camera but as far as how the XP looks it ain't nuttin' fancy but she's a sweet shooter. Like my other two XP's (one in 7BR and the other in 300 Whisper)) it's still in the original factory nylon stock and topped with a Leupold base and rings with a B&L Elite 3000 2x6 scope. Ike, while you are around here, how are you guys doing on target setters? One of the fellows in the club here made a proto type auto reset for the SB and FP targets. I told him I would help but work has put a bind on things here. Have you looked into any of the auto resets, if so do you know where there are any plans, ideas or thoughts on these. I posted a question on another board on this subject and not ONE single response! That kind of flusters me to a point. Thanks Jeff

Jeff, Nothing has changed here on the target setter situation, 99% of the time IHMSA members still reset them at my match and sometimes a members youngster or two will tag along and I'll pay him to help reset. No I haven't looked into purchasing auto resets and the main reason is is that I know for a fact that the gun club where we hold our matches wouldn't pay or help pay for the materials and labor to make them. I know I certainly can't afford them on my own from the meager match profits I end up with monthly after paying IHMSA sanction and gun club range fees, paint, ice for the water cooler, target repairs, a target setter or two etc. etc. As far as plans go to make them I don't have a clue but you may want to post your question over on the IHMSA forum, most of the IHMSA members hang out there. Go to http://talk.shooters.com/ and once there click on the "Handgun Silhouette" forum and after getting there click on the "T" at the top of the page and that takes you to the current topics page. It's too bad you weren't able to attend the Regionals this past weekend, it would have been nice to have a face to associate with the name.....maybe next year.

Ike I have your trophy and my son is checking with some friends about target setting. Right now I have to resetup my scope mount for more elevation, rewire the shop for new equipment, and do some casting. Also if the equipment is set up and running I will bring you som .454 bullets and some 7mm for you or Frank to try in you guns. I need some more input. Allso my wife had a great time talking to you we shure did enjoy. I walked a way with wood and a new Sierra pistol reloading manual. A new Bomar hooded sight and a nnew T/C stock.BBT Cast Bullets

IKE, well I was sure wanting to make it down your way this time. I got put on to seven days a week a while back and that put the whammy to that. I just didn't think it would work to come down one night and back the next. Then on top of that my spotter ended up working the long weekend also. She is already wanting to try and attend the Region 4 match next year. Did you here anything of where it might be next year? Maybe I can get all of the "misses" shot out of a couple of these guns by 2003?? BTW talk shooters.com is where I posted and nothing. I have been on the IHMSA board a couple of times, there gets to be a little to much "drama" on there somtimes. But will give it a try. Jeff

Billy, Thanks for picking up my trophy for me Sunday, just bring it up with you on the 22nd for our last match of the season. If your son Tim could hustle up another kid to set targets that would be great but two is about all I can afford.....I really appreciate all the help you've been this year. It sounds like you darn near had to rent a U-Haul to get all your drawing prizes home. Hold off on the 7mm and .454 cast bullets for now, I'll get with you if and when I want to try some. Tell your wife I had a good time talking to her at the match also, she's one super lady....she has to be to put up with you. :-) Jeff, I've got no idea where the Regionals will end up next year at this time. The way it's decided where it's going to be (just like the state championship matches) is that the different states / gun clubs in the region or state that want to have it at their range, apply for the holding of it to IHMSA, on a special IHMSA form....I've got some somewhere in my match directors kit. Normally there aren't that many applications to weed through, if any, simply because it takes a lot of up front money (and spare time on the match directors part) to purchase trophies, t-shirts, food and drinks, scrounge up and purchase door prizes, try to hustle up target setters etc. etc. If you have time email me at Ike40x40@aol.com on your XP in 7mmIHMSA. I heard a rumor today that John Dunn mentioned at the Regionals this past weekend that he was going to to try and host the 2003 Regionals down in Tex.....we'll see.
