Who here has an older Contender barrel? I've had one since 1989, I have a load(HDY 55gr SX, 24.0gr H322 LC brass) I have used in it for years and have decided the load is a bit too warm(guess I'm getting older and more conservative with my loads). I did quite a bit of testing when I first got the barrel and still have that data, But I wanted to ask the forum what your favorite loads are as well.

I have a Contender with a 14" barrel and I use the 55 SPSX or 55grn Dogtown Soft Point from Midway. I use 25grn of W748 and this is good in my barrel out to 250yds for Prairie Dogs and is not to harsh. I think max is around 30grns but anything more than the 25grns has a nasty fireball at the end of the barrel.
