I have a dilema. I am going for Coastal deer (Sitka Blacktails) in the fall of 2004. I will be hunting Prince of Wales Island in Alaska. POW also has the world's largest Black Bear population and I just may take one or two while I am there. Just bought a .35 Rem TC barrel for this purpose. I have owned one before, but never hunted with it. Is this enough gun or should I boost it to 358 JDJ? I have heard the .35 packs punch at short ranges, but really peters out at any distance. After my most unpleasant experience with a non-ported 10 inch .375 JDJ, I am reluctant to ride that horse again. Your thoughts gentlemen. [ 11-30-2003, 06:20: Message edited by: AlanC ]

Alan, What do you have for a frame? Am I correct to assume a contender? Do you want to hunt with pistol length barrels or a carbine?

And the winner is the 358 JDJ. At least I like my 35 Rem barrel better as a 358 JDJ than I ever did when it was a 35 Rem. Yes it kicks but it's not that bad. If I was going after bear I sure would want all the power I could get. Jeff
