I have tried to contact Dave at Vanhorn custom barrels and the email address has come back as no longer valid. I have called his shop but never seem to find him. Can anyone help me with a way to contact Dave? Thank you and Nice Forum Sniperguy

Quote: Try calling around 8-10am his time. That is usually when I am able to get him on the phone. I'd not rely upon the e-mail all that much: I think someone at his place of business answers it for him, and they seem not to worry too much about it. He puts out exceptional work judging from the four Van Horn barrels that I have had, but lately there have been personal things that have been giving him problems, and he has ben slower of late on work. He may have worked it all out by now, and perhaps someone else can further comment upon that

Dave's work is excellent. Prices are competitive. Communication is hit and miss. Delivery can be extremely slow.

Dave puts out some extremely accurate barrels, but like Sean noted, some problems did surface and interfere with his productivity during the last 18 months. My last Van Horn barrel was not what I had ordered, and initially, I was extremely disappointed. But after a little range work, I grew to love it and "forgave" Dave for the mistakes he made while preoccupied with his personal matters. That barrel -- a full bull 6.5x55 for my Encore -- consistently prints 1.5", 3-shot groups at 300 yards with my standard hunting handloads. He rarely answered any of my e-mail; I always had to get him on the phone. And I found the best time for this was around 1/1:30 his time. I haven't spoken with him lately, but I certainly hope his problems have been resolved.
