Is anybody using the Speer 400 gr in a TC 45-70? If so, what is your preferred load?

I use them in my Guide Gun and they have been very accurate. My load comes from the Speer Manual in the 1895 section I do not remember the powder charge off the top of my head but it is the Max. Load from the newest Speer manual with H-335. This load gives 1840 fps out of my 18 1/2" barrel with MOA accuracy. IMR-3031 shot equally well with this bullet I switched for a velocity gain. Sean

I don't have my reloading notes with me, but I think that the max load of h-322 is 46 or 47 grains with the 400. It is to me a pure hunting load only. It packs a lot of ommph, but to me is not really fun to shoot for an extended time. It will however knock the snot out of what it hits. Be shure to check on the load, but I think it was 46.0gr of h-322 that I have shot in the past. Now since the largest thing I shoot at lately is deer, I have been shooting a 300 gr bullet and a max load of 54.0gr of H-322. This is much more fun to shoot, and the 300's will explode vermin like few others can.
