I came in late so excuse me if this has been hashed over before. I hear rumors that no one will chamber any of the WSSM cartridges in the Encore. True or false and why?

To partially answer my own question, I was just reading Gary Reeder's gun notes on his web site and he said they were no longer chambering WSSM cartridges in the Encore due to excessive frame stretch. So does this apply to all WSSM cartriges or just the larger calibers?

WSSM and WSM cartridges operate under higher pressure than is recommended for the encore. Even in standard cartridges, its not uncommon for them to have to be handloaded lower than for a bolt action, for example. Troy

What determines if a cartridge is safe or not in the Encore boils down to a number of factors, not the least of which is case head size and the cumulative effect of backthrust against the frame. Then there's sufficient "beefiness" in the chamber area to contain the round, and the squatty cases in question certainly do cut into the available security of steel encasement. I guess that eliminates my plan to chamber the 577-.450 Martini Henry in an Encore -- not enough beef around the chamber area. I guess this indicates the need for a "G-2 Encore." Thanks all.
