Has anyone out there shot this little brute? How is the recoil compared to a stout .44 Rem Mag?

I'm looking for a something to play with in my Encore, and my interest has been piqued by the Rugero.

I haven't tried one in the encore, and am bummed that the contender can't handle the pressure. I do have a 7 1/2" SRH, and really, really like it. There is a thread in the handgun hunting forum about the ruger, and also in the favorite loads forum, I have most of mine listed.

I'd expect a 10" 480 to have a ~100 fps advantage over the 7 1/2" SRH, and a 14" ought to have a 200+ fps advantage. So, you're looking at 400 gr @ 1300-1400 fps w/ H110, and possibly 1400-1500 fps with Lil Gun. I'd also think you could drive a 440-460 gr to 1200-1300 fps.

Of course... if your worried about speed, you'd get a 475 Linebaugh.

In an Encore... I dunno. I'd rather shoot my 500 Linebaugh Bisley than my 45-70 Contender. Not cause the 500 kicks less by any means... but rather HOW it kicks.

An interesting point about recoil. I once fired my 480 (7 1/2" SRH) 390 gr @ 1170 fps and then another shooters 475, (5" Bisley) 410 gr @ 1250 fps, and the recoil of the 475 was signifigantly more.

The 480 does recoil more then the 44, but not signifigantly, it is a bigger shove, but not harsher. From the many 475's and 500's I've shot, they are bigger and harsher.
