Would like to know what you are getting out of your 15" Encore.

T/C, My Encore was running right at 2600 fps with the 140 gr Ballistic Silvertip. Accuracy was good(1 to 1 1/4 moa) but barrel was badly pitted near the origins of the rifling, she is now a 7mm RUM with a clean throat and drives the same bullet to right at 2900 fps with top loads. Good SHooting!!! 50

How is the case life on the 300RUM..?

T/C Case life is actually pretty short no matter what load I use in it. I am thinking that my frame has been stressed a bit over the years and allowing the cases to stretch more then usual. From the tesing I have done with encore and large diameter case heads, they are a very poor mix. In fact I could not recommend any case head larger the the '06 if case life longer then 3 firings with top loads are desired. I have a custom Virgin Valley barrel in 7.21 Tomahawk that shoots 1/2 inch groups at 2900 fps with the 140 gr Ballistic Silvertip but splits cases on the third firing. At $2 each that is not a good thing. My Encore have been put aside in favor of custom XP-100 like my 338 WSM wildcat which drives the 180 gr Ballistic Tip over 2900 fps with normal case life. Some day I will give the encore a try again but probably using a '06 wildcat instead of a large diameter case. In all honestly, with the bullets on the market today, the 7mm08 will be hard to beat unless the big bears, elk or moose are to be hunted. For everything else it will go great. Good Shooting!!! 50
