Good day,
Just wondering if there was anyone else that goes to the United States to hunt with a handgun. We can't hunt with handguns up here so I am forced to go south every time I get the chance just so I Can hunt with a handgun.

Mike,
I live in West Virginia, so don't have to go far (out the back door) to be handgun hunting. Did it exclusively for several years but now I like the Martini sporters and Contender and Encore carbines.
Why can't you hunt with a handgun there? That seems strange.

Good day,
T. D. Clevenger, Up here our politicians think guns are evil. I can own handguns but can only use them on an approved range. Even if I lived in the middle of nowhere I couldn't even use them legaly on my own property unless I had an approved range. It sucks big time because my Contenders are my favourite toys. I've shot about a dozzen antelope in northeast Montana over the years with my 7mmTCU and last year I managed to shoot a mulie in Wyoming. A year and a half ago I broke down and made a loan and went to South Africa, I managed to get my Kudu with my TC but had to borrow a rifle to finish my hunt, my Contender broke. I'd brought a spare frame but couldn't hit anything with it, oh well an excuse to make another loan when this one is paid off.
What do you hunt in Virginia?
Mike

I'm not in Virginia, I'm in West Virginia. Whole different state.
There are a lot of whitetail deer and turkey here, but I don't care to hunt them much any more. My favorites are crows, tree squirrels, groundhogs, fox, and starlings. There are seasons on the squirrels and fox, but the rest are fair game anytime. My neighbors have seen and even shot coyotes, but I've only seen one while hunting. Haven't got one yet.
You got to hunt in Africa! Wow. I've not gotten to travel much. I'd like to go out west to shoot prarie dogs sometime, but may never get to.
If you have photos of your African hunt, I'd love to see them.
I have no hunt photos since I mostly hunt small game, but if you'd like to see my Martini and T/C collection I can show you photos.

Hi T.D
Sorry about misnaming your state. My girlfriends parents used to live in Virginia Beach and I assumed it was where you were from. I'd love to see your Martini and T/C collection. I'll finish scanning my pics and either post them or set them up so you can easily retreive them from Image station. Africa was great, I had problems with my gun but overall it was an excellent trip. A person has to be carefull though, They say you go once and you HAVE to go back. It's not fiction. As soon as this loans paid off I'm going back.(I hope)

Here's a picture of my Varminteer pistol in 219 Donaldson Wasp, and one of a Contender with a home made stock set. Email me if you want access to my photo album. They aren't quite all in there, but I can email you back pictures of the rest of them. Don't forget to send me photo's or an invitation to your photo station.

T D your contender stock set for the 219 is the prettiest stock set I have seen. I have some nice wood but nothing like that.

Thanks, tommyn. That is nice of you to say. I built a Martini stock set from that same tree also. I like the grain pattern a lot. It's oak, crotchwood from right down at the ground. To pretty to burn in the fireplace!
