If Glen F. is lurking out there somewhere he could jump in and tell us a lot about 100s for varmints and 120 BTs which he told me were THE medium game bullet fo the 6.5 TCU. (If we don't hear from him I will try to find a communication from him that he has given me permission to publically share in the past) I think he told me he got 2200 fps with the 120 BTs and AA2520 in his 10" barrel with his hunting load. I can not get 2200 with mine (have not with my available powders (have NOT tried 2520) ) As he once told me, ' load up your best load with 120 BTs, quit worrying about the chronograph numbers and go harvest a deer.' LouisB All just a bunch of opinions of course with some real measured numbers thrown in to confuse the issue with facts [ 07-27-2002, 19:33: Message edited by: TCLouis ]

The 120 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip is definitely THE bullet for this cartridge, and you can do a lot worse than load nothing but H335 in it. I've had 2 10" 6.5 TCUs, and both would max out around 2040 fps with the 120 grain bullets. And, the most accurate loads also happened to be the top-end loads, so they worked just fine for hunting. Out to 150 yards (175 on a good day), the 6.5 TCU will cleanly harvest any whitetail, pronghorn or mulie -- but you do need to use the 120 grain Nosler to ensure proper bullet performance. And if you can get your hands on the older BTs (red, green & black boxes of 100), they work even better as they are slightly softer. I have stashed away a few of these over the years, and they still surface at gun shows, in the classifieds, etc. But the current BTs will still do quite well.
