The 300Mag clocked in at 2,720 fps using factory 180gr Corelocks. [Big Grin] Thats only 361 fps I lost from the 26" barrel.I'll have to test some 150gr XLC's.All I can say is I like it!

I have a 15" '06 that will push 150gr XLC's 2,600 fps.Hornaday 150gr S.P.'s 2,500 to 2,512 fps.150gr NBT's at 2,570.I don't think my '06 even in a 16.5" tube could push a 180gr near the 300 velocity.I'm going out today to do some more testing.Talk to you guys later. [Big Grin]

I'm anxious for more feed back. FYI, I'm getting 2520 from a 15" 308 Win. with 165 Nosler BT's.

I have a 26" 30 Gibbs, that I might think about making a 20" pistol barrel, if I can decide on a caliber.

That's terrific for a factory load in that short of a tube. In essence, you're getting top-end '06/180 rifle performance -- and that'll do for just about anything you choose to hunt.

What powder do you guys think I should try?
I tried IMR4350 today with some speer 180's and my groups at 100 yards went in to 1.5" for 3 shots.I also shot some 150gr XLC's but the group was all over the place.I didn't get to chrono again my mount came lose! Now I know why the XLC's didn't group.I found out why too....I was in such a hurry when I got my barrel I forgot to put some threadlocker on it.He...Heee I must be getting OLD.

I have never seen one of those "bull" barrels but they are obviously not "full bull". Thanks for the info. Believe it or not, i had considered doin this exact project some time ago. The info that you have provided thus far leads me to believe that it is worth while. Looking forward to additional data....

T/C Nut That is great I have a 375 JRS in 16" BBL Competitor and the best powder for it is IMR4350 with all bullets. I can push a 200gr Sierra bullets at 2687 fps and just over 2600 fps with a 235gr Barnes bullet and 2576 fps with a 260gr Noslor BT. Good luck and good shooting
