Depends, what is the 6mm's ballistic specs? What and where are you hunting? I've had good luck with a Leupold 2.5 to 8x, a Burris 2-7x, and a Burris 3-9x on a 7mmJDJ, a .257JDJ, and a .309JDJ. I've got a new Nikon that I haven't mounted on anything yet but I hear good things about them. The type of scope you get should in part depend on the accuracy of the weapon, the range at which you intend to shoot game and the type of game hunted. For ranges up to 200 yards, a fixed 2X scope is sufficient though I prefer a bit more magnification. I have a couple of Leupold 2X scopes for a couple of heavy recoiling guns I got on eBay (good condition) for about $100 each. I also like Thompson/Center scopes. They have a similar lifetime warranty to Leupold. I like their variable scopes and in fact recently picked up a couple more on eBay (I could start my own scope collection). The first one I got was a 3-9X which was a mistake since I soon turned the power down to 5-6X and left it their except when I turned it down to 3X to shoot a Cape Springbok at close range in brush with a 357 Herrett. In other words, I think magnification over 6X at least for hunting purposes is a waste at least for me. I had a Bushnell Trophy handgun scope on a 460 S&W and the recoil soon damaged it. I sent it to Bushnell who said it was "abused" and wouldn't honor their warranty. Bushnell (and also Tasco since Bushnell also makes it now) are off my list of scopes I will even consider.

Over the years, the scope I seem to have used the most -- and the scope that seems to be the most versatile for my use -- is the T/C 2.5-7x. I've had several of these, and they always perform exceptionally well. My second choice is the Burris 2-7. Persoanlly, I don't care for the Leupold EER scopes. I'm sure I'll get rebutted, but in my opinion, they are overpriced for what they actually offer. All twelve of my pistol length Contender and Encore barrels wear the now discontinued Bausch & Lomb Elite 3000 2x6's....I have three or four more ratholed for future barrels. They were / are excellent scopes and one of the features I really like is that the eye relief stays constant through all the power settings.....no tunnel as the power is increased. They were replaced by the Bushnell Elite 3200 2x6 which is currently available and also a very good scope from what I've read. Ike

I'd definately recomend a 2-6 or 2-7. I've used both the 2x and 4x leupolds and find them a compromise. The 2x isn't even a true 2x, though it does have a good fov for close in shooting, but placing accurate shots way out there is tough. The 4x has way to small of a field of view in a pistol eye relief scope. __________________________________________________ The AR series of rounds, ridding the world of 7mm rem mags, one gun at a time.

I have both the Bushnell Trophy 2 x 6 and Weaver Classic 2.5 x 8. I have had no issues with either scope and they have over 400 rounds on them. Very clear and can be had for $150-$200. Most of mine have Burris, the last two pistol barrels have Weaver 2.5x8. I've not had a problem with any of them. Several of My Burris are fixed power that I have not seen them offer anymore, ie, 4X 5X, and 7X

What IKE said. I use the Bushnell Elite 3200 2x6 on my Custom Encore in 7mm mag and it works great.

My two favorite Handgun Scopes are the 2x7 Burris LER Handgun Scope and the 3x12x Burris LER Handgun Scope. I've also used a 2.5x8x Weaver and thought it was a really decent scope. When I checked out the field of view (measured on the side of a building at 100 yards) the one I had provided way more field of view than what the factory specs showed. I had one 2.5x7x T/C Recoil Proof Handgun Scope. I am not sure if I just had a bad one of what, but the image looked distorted through this scope. I took it back to the dealer I purchased it from and he exchanged it for me with a 2x6x Bushnell Trophy Handgun Scope. I have had several 2x6x Bushnell Trophy Handgun Scopes over the years. The first one I had were great, but some of the later ones seemed to be not nearly as crisp or clear. The field of view was also larger on the earilier ones I had. While I have not tried their 2x6x Variable, I have had a couple 2x & 4x Swift Handgun Scopes. These were actually a pretty decent scope for the $$$, quite clear and crisp. I am currently using an older Bausch & Laumb 3200 2x6x. This scope is excellent optically providing a crisp and clear view. At 100 yards at 6x I can easily spot my bullets holes in the target paper at 100 yards. As mentioned the eye relief is quite forgiving. If this scope has a down fall it is the smaller field of view. Good luck with your quest. Larry PS on my 6mm Handguns I like the 3x12x Burris since I use them at long range for Varminting.
