MrUREasyEncore 7mm/08 opinion?
Does anyone have any experience with the 7mm/08 Encore with a 10" barrel? I think it is safe to assume there might be a bit of muzzleblast - I was wondering about the accuracy. Thanks.

<Fireball>Accurate?? YES......Muzzles Blast???? The likes of which you cannot beleive. For sure not enough barrel length to take advantage of this round.
I see Midway has them on sale CHEAP.......becasue no one would buy them.

<Grinder>The muzzle blast and sound from a 20" Model 7 is bad. From a 10" barrel I'd say it would unbearable.

uplanderWhen you shoot rifle cartridges out of a pistol, you will definitely get plenty of muzzleblast. That's part of the fun. There is something very satisfying about a watermelon sized ball of flame at the end of a short barrel.
I had a Encore carbine in 7mm/08. I was disappointed with the accuracy. With the switch-barrel guns, sometimes you get a sweet combination, sometimes you don't. The only way to know is to try it. If it doesn't work for you, you can trade for a different barrel. Keep trying until you find one (or more) that pleases you. Have fun!

<Rezdog>Hey, You Are Easy! Just kiddin'. I, too, saw some 10" barrels for sale and at first was excited by the low price but when I stopped to consider, I decided a 14-15" barrel would be better. I wouldn't go any shorter than 14" on my .30-30m and .30-30 AI so I would want a barrel long enough to take advantage of what the 7-08 has to offer. On the other hand, I know how you adore huge muzzle blasts. When you touch off those short barreled rifle caliber TCs we can hear it clear over here in Arizona (we think it must be thunder).

MrUREasyMr. RezDog - you need to try my 15" 30-06 Encore if you want a new experience in muzzleblast! You have to admit, that price is tempting, tho'
