There is a good possibility that I will moving into the South Central part of Kansas by the first of the year. Is anyone here close to Wichita? Second, are there any good ranges in the area?

Man, it would be tough to have to hunt deer in Kansas on a resident tag.......oh well, someone has to I guess [Big Grin]

I think there is a club that shoots handgun silhouette in that area.........

Mark,
Still have a ways to go before I know where we will land, but there is a good possibility. The good thing is that, I know a number of landowners in the area.

Mark,
I haven't lived in the state since 1983, so I am unsure about the regs and what they allow. How far is your northern most place to hunt from the OK/KS border and I-35? If we do move there, I will have my OK license. Maybe we can jump back and forth some?
With all of this uncertainty I may not get to go elk hunting this year. I have considered an archery antelope hunt in SE Colorado if I don't go elk hunting. I have access to private land and it is an over the counter license.

Ernie

It's probably 90 minutes from the border at I-35.

It would be almost due east of Ponca City.....

Do you have a Lifetime license??? Hope so because I don't believe Kansas residents can buy deer tags in OK.......

Hey Buckweet, where is Clinton MO???

I don't have a OK lifetime license yet. It would be more intriguing if the rifle season was longer in OK. It may not be worth it for me. unsure at this time. There is even a possiblity I could be just south of Tulsa. To many "If's" at the moment. Should know more in a couple of weeks.

I have never hunted in Missouri before either. but there is always a first time.

Hey XPHunter -

I live near Kansas City...just under 3 hours from Wichita. I grew up in western Kansas and I know the Wichita area pretty well. I've seen most of what this state has to offer (too bad that ain't much!) [Big Grin]

There are two silhouette clubs around Wichita, but neither are big bore ranges. You would have to come to Kansas City for that.
