Can you take a handgun onthr Rosebud on hunts?

I've never been to the Rosebud but I live on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona. It is my impression that open carry of handguns for any purpose is unlawful on all reservations. I have a concealed weapons permit so when I take my Contenders out I wear them concealed under a long windbreaker. Best to check with the tribe directly and see what they have to say. I would carry written documentation of their reply, just in case. To back up any and all firearms I carry I always get a tribal hunting license every year just to avoid any accusations of unlawful hunting.

I went to Rosebud last year and plan on going again this year. We had a great time but there are restrictions on handguns. Had to leave the Contenders and XP-100s at home. They also have a caliber restriction, nothing bigger than .25. So my heavy barreled 308 din't make the trip either. You may want to check their website for any reg changes and to line up a guide which you must have.
