I bought a 14" AA 44 mag rechamber, I was told work was done by mike bellm, but barrel not marked
with his stamp though and it has a full length 14" scope base , im not gonna shoot it till mike has a chance to check it out. i dont want to be one of those posters that had a barrel blow up, im not sure if mike did the rechamber its just what the guy I bought it from said. im concerned with if they overdrilled the mount holes or not.If mike says its ok to go boom, ill leter rip.its been sittin in the safe for two and a half years,I guess I should get around to have it checked out

STILL haven't had a chance to put it through it's paces. I have shot it however with some mid range reloads.

My dad's got one, it's the only barrel he's got. I asked him who rechambered it, but it was like that when he bought it. Blued 14'' nonported with iron sights, it will shoot 2'' groups with his eyes. He carried it on many elk hunts when he was still up to such things. Calls it "the hammer" and it sure nails the hand that holds it.

Thats some case. I bet recoil would really be severe. It would take a big armed guy to shoot that. I sure would be afraid.

My Super-14 .444 is not ported or have any kind of muzzle brake.I don't think it kick's as much as my 15" '06 barrel It kick's way less than my .300mag pistol [Wink]

I have a 10" contender barrel that started off as a 44mag then it was a 430JDJ. The 430JDJ is just a hair shorter the 444 Marlin. I had Joe McCrea open it up .10 to the 444 Marlin. It's wears a 2x Leupold

Behind 52grs of H322 a 240 gr. Win Bullets out of my 10" rechamber travels at 1627,1635, and 1685.
The average is 1649. I believe this is what the 44mag does in a 14" barrel.

Great little gun to carry then putting a deer drive on.

Bill

What would the recoil compare to? I don't know if I could handle the recoil of the 444 or the 405.
If someone could give me an idea I may try one.

Mine 12" is magnaported, and actually started out as a .444. It is a Bullberry, and I think they have since dropped the chambering.
