I had such a good time with my new Encore in 257 Roberts Improved that I felt I had to write about it.

I'd like to start off by thanking all the guys at VVCG as they made an excellent barrel on a Shilen Blank 15 3/4" long. They also did a good job on the trigger job as well. which was done to 3#'s.

While I was only doing fireforming & barrel break in it shows to be very accurate so far. I was using both 90 GR Sierra HPBT & 100 Gr Nosler Bal tips with R/L 15. They both gave excellent groups.

I still have more fireforming & barrel break in to do but I'm going to enjoy every minute of it. [Big Grin] [Cool] Thanks GUYS !!

I have a weaver mount with High Burris Signature Zee rings & a Burris 3x12 AO scope. So far very nice, but it will be interesting to see how it does at 100 yard & 200 Yards.

Jules I hadn't got a chance on the 7TCU yet but that is the first thing on the agenda for tomorrow. Hopefully it will be as good as the 257 has been so far. I have still a little more fireforming to do & then Load developement will start shortly after that.

I have to say that I really like the way that this is shooting so far. I can't wait to try actual full loads in the Ackley Improved cases. [Big Grin]

I went out today & did a little shooting with the 257 Robert AI this was the results.

R/L 15 gives ok results but found out that the barrel likes WW760 better with both velocity & accuracy. I may have to try a couple of more slower powders.

At 50 yards this is what I got with WW 760 So far.

48.0 gr of WW760 w/100 Gr NBT 3 shot group of 3/4" Ave 2714.5 Fps Fed 210 Primer

48.0 gr of WW760 w/85 Gr Comb Tech NBST 3 shot group of 7/16" Approx Vel 2867(was only able to read one shot)Fed 210 Primer This was best for both accuracy & velocity today

It looks like the barrel likes the slower powder better. I have more experimenting to do & hopefully my next trip out will be on the 100 yard line if my club has the rifle range repaired.
