I'll be mounting it on a contender 15" 222Rem bull barrel. I have a Leupold Duel Dovetail mount on it but I only have med high rings. Will the high rings work or do I need to get super high?

I'd say you will need the super high if you are mounting it on a bull barrel.

My Simmons/Blazer 8-32x44mm uses Leupold QRW extra high rings in order to clear the 14" 22mag Bellm rechamber.

I finally got to shoot my 222 with the 8x24 Tasco, last week. I had to go with high rings on the 40MM scope, so you will probably have to go with extra high. I didn't get a black eye, but I did develop a flinch after about 15 rounds. The scope was brushing my nose or forehead each time I touched off a round and I was getting worried that sooner or later, it would draw blood. This was after I added 8 ounces of lead to the forearm. When I tried a tight grip, the scope didn�t hit me, but the accuracy went all to hell. It seems that my Contender likes a very light grip. It sure was nice to be able to see the target with the higher power scope. Maybe I can find a rifle scope with more eye relief, or add more weight to keep it out of my face. The quest for a �one hole� group goes on!

Here's a picture of the lead that I added to the forearm. I drilled 3/4" holes in the barrel channel, then I drilled more holes in a scrap piece of wood to use as a mold to cast the weights. The slugs were about 5/8" long. I held them in with blue silicon RTV. The weight really holds it on the sandbags, but it's a little much to carry on a hunt.
