Well, while this may technically be the wrong forum, this is where I usually post. Anyway, I used my 7mm Bullberry (20" full bull) Contender carbine to take a gorgeous, symmetrical 8point whitetail with a spread of 18 5/8th inches Monday evening in Kimble County, TX (app. 12 miles west of Junction). The load: 130 grain Sierra SSP at 2505 fps. The range: 105 yards. Buck was slightly quartering and gave me only seconds to make up my mind. Bullet took him on the inside part of the right shoulder and lodged in the left ham. The recovered bullet was a perfect mushroom and still weighs an amazing 114.5 grains despite taking out a couple inches of spine along the way. I hope to post a photo of both the buck and bullet in the enxt week or so.

Wow! Way to go!

I am hunting this year with my new 20" 7mm GNR barrel. I hope my luck runs along the same lines this weekend.

Congrats, Bobby! [Big Grin] I'm surprised the bullet penetrated so far. [Eek!] Looking forward to the pics. Gary T.

Gary-
I was EXTREMELY surprised it made it that far. There was a small area near the last rib that bled a bit, and I figured it exited there. But as it turns out, just ahead of that is where it clipped the spine, and apparently some of the bone fragments exited. This is one of the prettiest mushrooms I have seen, and the bullet retained a good percentage of its length -- not to mention 114.5 grains of its original 130 grain weight. I am extremely impressed with this bullet. I've had good results with it before, but not to this degree.

Yes, I did use the Sierra seconds you picked up for me. The accuracy is terrific -- and the terminal performance is just fine. I honestly can't tell the difference in the performance of the seconds and the "good" bullets.

All I did was clip the extra lead wire which was attached to a few of these. The rest were ready to go as-is.
