Just wondered how ya'll get your scope square and level with the bore so your scope adjustments are going 6 to 12 o'clock for your elevation and 3 to 9 o'clock for your windage.

Jules,
I put mine in vise [Eek!] w/softjaws and line it up with the target that is mounted just for this. If the crosshairs are off, at least they're all the same. [Big Grin]

I use a level on the base to get the gun level in the gun vise, then use it on the top turret with the cover removed to get the scope level. Not perfect, but I've done it that way for years and it works okay. There's a new product out for this problem. It's at:

TD,
That's about how i've been doing it. I use a small level on the base in the vice.
I have a 3'x 3' piece of white cardboard with red level lines about 2" apart that I use for my background. With the barrel level in the vice pointed at the center of the cardboard I can look through the scope and turn it to get the crosshairs to line up with the lines on the cardboard. This works very well.

I was told of this trick: put the gun in a vise and check level with a level [Wink] , then hang a string with a weight on the end from the ceiling and line up the cross hairs with that. A hanging string WILL be 90 to the ground.

Jules,

Don't forget to allow for the curvature of the earth also.

I use a Segway scope leveler. It indexes off the base then you line up the crosshair with the lines on the leveler and all comes out perfect. Works first time, every time, and you don't need to mount your firearm in a vice. It's the best $17 you will spend on a 10 cent piece of plastic, brass rod, and rubber band.

I've used many methods, I now use the Segway. Works if my eyes do. No, I don't mean to be funny. [Frown]
