BAW, momentarily (or thereabouts) you're going to get a response from XPhunter, as he is shooting one (with 2 barrels). In fact he likes it soooo much that he's thinking of changing his handle to MOAhunter, so i hear. In resonse to your question-- yes they are still in business, and if XP doesn't get their contact info. to you before i check it out (i'm at work now), i'll get it to you ASAP. By the way, that mom-and-pop company is GREAT to work with, and one excellent gun, if you don't already know it.
Richard Mertz is still in business with what is probably the best production (combination of strength, versatility, accuracy, and cartridge selection {even tight-neck) specialty handguns out there. His web page is http://www.moaguns.com/ The more I shoot it the more I like it. My next barrel will likely be a 1 1/4 dia. stainless steel tight-neck 6-284 that is 16-17 inches long. This "mom & pop" shop is a jewel of a company. xphunter

Thanks lads, Our government is currently undertaking a buyback of small handguns with barrels less than 100mm. I've always liked the look of these MOA pistols and intend to put my confiscation money into the biggest meanist muther of a pistol that I can legally own up to 45cal. Ive sent an email to MOA to see if they have any connections in Australia.

I'd like to second my support and fondness of the MOA pistol. It is a very simple and effective designed pistol. I am one of a few guys who uses a MOA at the local silhouette matches. Probably the only downside to MOA's are the long wait time to have one built...however Richard has recently said that they might be soon under a 6 month wait time. Frankly, I'll believe that one when I hear of it happening. The quality and strength is great.

xphunter, What is the best way to contact MOA? A year ago I wanted one. I e-mailed them, had a gunsmith e-mail them and had sporting goods store owner write (snail mail)a letter with FFL. None of us got a response. I didn't think they were still in business, the date on the web site is 2000. I guess I'll have to give'm call.

Rick, Call Rich with the phone number listed on the web page. You will either get him or his wife. If the store sent an FFL to them he should have it on record.

Just remember to call during business hours. The phone number on the webpage is also their home number. I have two MOA's and they do shoot it is worth the wait just to try one out. clev
Thumper, Does the forend just hang on the frame allowing the barrel to be free so that you could have say a 10" 14" or 18" barrel for the same gun without having different forends like a T/C? I've seen their websight and barrel change looks so simple. I can visuallise a 24" rifle barrel with an accessory sholder stock making the whole darn thing just so versatile. What calibres are your guns?

The fore-end does hang on the frame, so you do have a free-floated barrel. He makes two basic fore-ends: One is for the standard taper which would be called a heavy sporter (my term) and the other if for barrels that are a full bull (1 1/8 diameter or he can make a step-up barrel which widens to a 1 1/4 after you get beyond the frame). Barrel change is very simple. You just have to always remember to have the action open when changing barrels. My barrels (both 14 inchers) are 260 Remington & 22-250 Ackley Improved. Rich also makes his own scope mount. He is sending me one that he has built 15 minutes into for long range shooting out to 1,000 yards. That ought to let me see what these two barrels can do at ranges from 500-1,000 yards at Don Bower's handgun clinic this July. I'm also setting up the MOA to try it with Don's Rest System.
Thumper, What part of the state do you live in? Maybe we are close enough to get together and shoot sometime. I live in Hutch. xphunter
if you try to remove the MOA barrel without to be sure that the action is FULL open you can destroy the extractor and / or make dammage in the rear face of the barrel .
good shooting

XPHunter - Thumper is just down the road about 30 miles from me. I'm not sure you want to associate with the likes of him! Seriously though, He's a good guy and if you get together for a shoot then I wanna be invited too!

B_Koes, Once I get more dog towns lined up, us Kansas boys will have to go PD shooting or set up in a ranchers field and do some long range shooting (Half gallon, Gallon jugs, couple of old softballs or baseballs, in other words any kind of reactive target). Central Kansas Gun Club has a 600 yard range but if someone is shooting there @ 1 or 2 hundred yards you can't shoot @ 6 till they are done.
