Other then Thompson Center does anyone know where I can get parts for a new style frame? {not G2} I'm looking for a SS trigger and complete SS hammer.
I already tried that guy on ebay and he only does the auction thing.

Jules,
I broke the hammer spur off my contender awhile back. T/C wouldn't sell me a hammer they said I had to send the frame back to them to get it worked on. No Way!! [Roll Eyes]

I contacted Jim Henry down in Barstow Ca.. So far he has had everything I've ever needed. Great guy.
His email address is tccraft1@earthlink.net

At least it's it's good to know we can get a few parts without going through TC. Hell...I don't know bout ya'll but it would cost me 25 bucks just to send the frame back "via next day air" for repair work. I would think that you could at least get the hammer for that.
No reply from Jim yet.

Jules,
You don't have to send Gun Parts for next day air. I've sent, legally, T/C frames only to them at regular ground rates twice and when they return them to you, it always comes economy surface rate.

Just in case you need to send it back to Rochester.

regards,
Graycg

Thanks for that info Graycg. I never sent just a frame but I thought it would be the same as any other handgun. The ones i've sent for custom work were complete pistols.

Jules,
With Jim, for 25 bucks you can get quite a bit. His done a couple of triggers for me and I've gotten bolts and screws and springs, you name it. And you know, I don't think he even charged me anything for the hammer!! [Eek!]
The first trigger job he did for me, he called me, long distance mind you, and talked to me for about 30 minutes about all he was doing.
Yep, it's nice having Jim as a resource!

I needed a hammer back in the early Spring, and talked to several different people at T/C and finally convinced them to send me a hammer. Then I found out that it was around $50 plus shipping, so I decided to send in my frame. I sent just the frame by UPS ground, for about $7 and got the frame back in 10 days with a new hammer and all new springs, at no cost. I certainly can't complain about their service.

Well guys, don't look like i'll be getting any SS parts from Jim? He don't have them.

Wow! 50 bucks for a hammer. I'll just buy another frame [Wink]
But at least it's good to know if I did brake anything that I can send the frame for just a few bucks. Nothing is broke, I just like having extra parts around.

Jules,
After I talked the gunsmiths and managers at T/C into selling me the hammer, they transfered me to the parts department, where they quoted the price of $52. That quickly changed my mind about fitting it myself. According to the smith that I spoke with, all new hammers are too wide to fit the frame, and must be surface ground to match each individual frame tolerance, and to compensate for wear. When I explained that I was a tool and die maker, he and I discussed the grinding procedure and the tolerances involved. If I remember correctly, it was a .001 per side. It would be easy to fit, but it was much easier and cheaper to let them do the work. The turn-around time surprised me, along with the note that all the springs had been replaced and that it had been test fired. What a deal!

I'll have to agree wit ya Nashcat. That is the way to go.
What I was lookin for was a little 2 tone [Big Grin] I could maybe switch with the ones I have and I was also thinking of getting a trigger and hammer plated {gold or silver} but didn't know if they would fit correctly after that. Not really sure how much the plating would add to the surface. I'll have to check into it [Wink]

You know me...Just trying to be different [Big Grin]

And you don't like me for using blue barrels on stainless frames.

Always knew you were "two toned" all along, Julius. [Big Grin]
