Hey Weet
I read the same story! LOL I originally bought the barrel from MssMagnum to possibly shoot silhouettes with. Then I found out because it had been refinished would have put it in unlimited category. I wasn't going to compete in that category with a factory barrel.

So I figured that it would still be great to use for hunting in that length & had that great matte finish on it. I figured that it would be like most T/C factory barrels with a really long throat. I could have it rechambered to 7x30 Waters & get rid of that throat & seat the 120's closer to the rifling. I know I won't get top Waters velocity due to the length, But I'm sure it will still do a job on deer at less than 100 yards which is basicly what most of my shots are here in NY.

I don't expect to see that barrel for a while since I know OTT is loaded with work. I'm sure of one thing though once I get it back, I'm sure it will shoot well.

buckweet,
After reading Larrys article a couple of years ago I went looking for a 10" 7-30 for myself, Larrys info/data was right on the money and boy would that thing shoot, it ended up being one of my favorite barrels, buuut, I got to listening to the critics about how the 7T/CU was the better round in the 10", and how the 7-30 was at its best in the 14 and I ended up selling it and gettin the 14.....and even tho they're right, thats one barrel I wish I would've hung onto! So I'd say go ahead and rechamber it, you'll love it! Lighter and easier handling than the 14", mild recoil, but loud, very accurate, and factory ammo is available....Yep, in my opinion the 10" 7-30 is a winner.

rich,mark...im just one of the many who love ,both the 7-30 n' the 7-tcu.
but ?? rich ?? i've NEVER heard of 7-mmTCU .. even factory barrel's that wouldnt shoot.have heard nothing but praise.
my last 7tcu barrel i ''had'' was a shooter !!! why do we sell barrel's when theres nothing wrong with them ??
my old barrel was boring to shoot. MOA all day long.
i do have the carbine barrel in 7-30...but im thinking ???[i like the 10'' length] get another 7mm-tcu.. shoot both.
the worst one send to OTT.. for rechamber to 7-30
at least 7mmtcu barrels wont break the bank.
