Short barrels?

I've purchased two Contender barrels around 8" in length. One is a .22 Hornet, one is a 30/30.

I believe the .22 Hornet will probably do OK with H-110 or 4227.

I plan to try 4227 or 4198 in the 30/30, and will try heavier bullets to get better burning in the short barrel.

Anyone have any experience with barrels of this length in these or similar calibers?

Bob, are these 2 of the SSK barrels from E-bay? They looked cool, but am unsure with the barrel length. I can't help you with load data, but am anxious to hear your results. I believe the 110 and 4227 would be as good a place to start as any.

Good Luck with both of them.

Yes, these are the ones on eBay earlier this week. I will keep you posted on this.

I'm pretty optimistic about the .22 Hornet barrel, and the 30/30 barrel seemed interesting, particularly for the price.
