Man, what a hand gun. Took the .375JDJ, fluted shilen 14" to the range yesterday afternoon. Just mounted a Bushnell 2x6 on it w/three rings in the TSOB mount. Loaded 20 rounds of 225grn Flat Nose Hornady bullets, 49grns of IMR4895, Fed 210 primers in nickel cases. I was more than ready to run a few rounds through it. I put a target up at 50yds, sighted down the bore and adjusted the scope as best I could. Fired first round. Whow. Hit 2" low, good left/right. Up 12 clicks and in the bullseye. Put two more in less than an inch at 50yards. Might have hit on a good load. Took it to 100 yds and put two in a two inch orange dot.
I have all of this on video and will try to load some on my computer at work and post here. I'm taking it out tomorrow with better light, more sandbags and hope to shot it at 150 & 200 yds.
I'm ready for the Whitetails now. If I ever get my Nosler Accubond 260grn bullets I will try them.
This pistol is not as rank as my 45-70, I don't think. My buddy that was with me said the recoil is easire to handle than my .309JDJ w/165grn bullets. I might have to agree. Here is a photo of my newest addition.

I just took mine out also and am quite pleased. Mine is a 20" Stainless Carbine barrel all decked out with the new stock I just got done making.

I am also waiting on the Accubond, so I started out with the much cheaper Ballistic Tips (Same B.C. but half the price) [Wink]

So far I haven't shot for groups, have just been working the powder charge up to see what it will do. I'm curious to know if anyone has any suggested data for the 260gr. Ballitic tip? I'm about 1 grain higher then what is listed for the 270gr. Hornady with AA2520 and R15. Velocity was 2416 and 2465. Think pressures might me high, but I'm getting zero signs and super easy opening and extraction.

I would really know what data others have used with the 260gr. Nosler.

Give Varget a try with the 270s. The max seems to be around 53 grains in my gun so start at about 48 and work up in your gun.

I don't know about the ballistic tips, but the 260 Partitions max out at less than the 270 Hornadys. They are harder. I would back off a little perhaps as the load data is generally the same for both partitions and ballistic tips.

Also SSK max for Hornadys in the .309 JDJ is greater than the ballistic tips also. I would think that the Nosler bullets are just jacketed with a thicker or harder gilding material.

If you chrono your loads that might give you a clue. I would expect max velocities of around 2100 to 2150 out of a 14" barrel.
