I was thinking about loading some 45 acp loads just for plinking with my 45 win mag.Do you think the 45 acp might ring the chamber with mild loads of 5 to 6 grains of Unique and 200 grain xtp or cast bullets.

Since the 45 win mag and the 45acp both headspace off the case mouth.......how do you propose to use a 45 acp in the longer 45 win mag chamber? There is a chance that the extractor will hold the 45acp enough to allow it to fire, but there is probably a better chance that you will have misfires since the 45 acp will try fall into the chamber.

I tried one sunday just to see what would happen.I ended up firing 12 rounds all shots touching at 40 yards.The extractor is most likely holding the case like you said but it shot a fair group.I'll just forget this idea i was a little bored sunday i guess.

Well, I learned something today......I would have thought that it would misfire more than it would fire.......
