as far as i know they were only made from 1986-1989. i recently bought one of these buggers. i havn't shot it yet, but i do have some fireforming loads sittin on the bench just watin for better weather and a break from work. anyone ever had one or shot one? i did notice it has a long throat. i can't reach the lands with some 80gr bullets. they may be .100" off. youin's think that'll be a problem? this barrel is supposedly unfired and looks good enuff to call it that anyway. The 6TCUS ares just awful -- I mean terrible....

Let me send you money for postage, and I'll take that clunker off your hands.

Seriously, though, the 6TCU barrels are among the best Thompson-Center ever turned out. I've never heard of one that couldn't do well under MOA.

By the way, H335 is a great place to begin when working up loads. And if deer may be on your agenda for next season, the 80 grain Sierra SSP is just the ticket -- and will serve double-duty for varmints as well.

I have a 6 TCU from VVCG and it is great. I had it throated for 70 grn Noslers and it shoots at well under 1 MOA every time out. I have not chronoed yet so dont have those results. I have heard good things about the 80 grn ssp bullets but think a Nosler Ballistic tip would do as well at those velocitys. I have seen a lot of deer killed here in Kansas with a 243 Win and have owned 2 rifles so chambered. My belief is 6mm bullets are very marginal for deer sized game. This may rub some wrong but having seen and autopsied (while dressing of course) hundreds of deer and tracking many, many after the shot that is my conclusion.
Back to the 6 TCU it is a marvelous round and very light recoiling for the performance. You will like it.

hey bobby, noticed you been movin some 6mm barrels lately. if i wasn't so poor they would've moved my way. i had a 15" 6x47 bullberry once upon a time and still have the dies(which i'll keep). just curious if anyone knows if or how 6x47 dies would work on a 6x45? in case i ever happen to get a 6x45 or 6x47. could you use it on a 6x45 without modification [Confused]

I have a 161/4" 6mm TCU made by T/C custom shop
I can shot 1/2 under groups at 100yds all day long with this gun. With a 80gr bullet and IMR4198 25.3gr I get 2906fps out of this barrel. It shoot better then my 7mm TCU barrel and it shoot great.

Kyode, the only thing I can complain about my 6 TCU barrel is the crown and the throat length. It is a pretty good shooter, but often wondered what a "good" chamber job a crown would do for it.

On the 6x47 and 6x45 issue, I think you could use the 6x45 die for the 6x47, as far as bumping the shoulder, but it would be too long to size to the base of the web. The 6x47 should let you size down to the web on the 6x45, but then you would be unable to bump the shoulder.

Any one else?? Correct me if I am wrong here.

Jeff

I believe Mike B has refered to the 357 mag die to full length size the 5.6x50R case, but may be different OD on the brass??
