Maybe I missed something??? They sent you the wrong barrel and now your going to keep it instead of the 6TCU you ordered???? I hope they are really taking care of you for all the trouble! I expect they will, they have always treated me right, especially Dave!

Well, the 257 TCU should be interesting!! Glad everything is working out to your satisfaction!!

PS: Try the 85 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip, works good in my 257 JDJ! I shot a Blackbuck antelope with it earlier this year, 18+" of penetration and the bullet retained about 60 grains weight!

Congrats to VV Dave & to you as well. It's great that VV is working with you for the trouble you've been through. It is good that they stand behind thier work &/or errors. It seems that everyone is a winner in the end with this one. Too bad all custom shops don't take care of business like that. Keep us updated on the 257 TCU's performance. Don't forget this barrel has history now. [Smile]

It does seem that both parties are happy with this but I have a new barrel coming from VV and have followed this thread with concern. I ordered a 221 fireball and what am I going to get? It should be here next week and I'm waiting. Buckweet IM me with your snail address and I will send you quite a bit of data on the 257tcu.

buckweet,

I'm a quarter bore fan, I have a 15" 250 Savage Encore and a 25/06 A Bolt rifle. I think you have a better deer cartridge than a 6mm. Good luck with it.

Twist??? I have no idea, whatever SSK uses???? I bought the complete contender, used, that came from SSK, has had all the tricks done to it.....

I own/have owned several 6mm TCU barrels, in fact, I have a 12" stainless 6TCU from Virgin Valley, unfired, tucked away waiting for a scope. The 6 TCU is one of my favorite contender cartridges, don't see why the 257 won't be just as good!

Let us know what kind of velocities you get with it!

BW,

Just make sure they re-stamp it to the correct chambering.

Or at least cross it out and write the correct one with a magic marker.

I'm glad they took care of you. I had a problem with one of their barrels I had. I was having problems with getting a Pachmyer forend adapter on. Studs that it attaches to were to far apart. I sent it in. They told me it was within specs and send it back. They did get the adapter on but looks like they removed some metal off the adapter to get it to fit. I found it kind of funny the adapters off my other barrels wouldn't go on the VV barrel either. I have 2 TC factory barrels and 2 SSK barrels and the adapters fit just fine on them.
