Took my first handgun turkey (small hen) yesterday afternoon! I used the Competitor 22 K-Hornet barrel with 40 grain V-Max bullets.......didn't have to worry much about bullet performance.....I made a lucky head shot at about 50 yards.....

Rich Just got back home....I posted from where I was staying.... I think the 309 would definitely be "enough gun" for turkeys! I didn't mention, but right after I shot the turkey, the biggest buck I've ever seen ran across the field I was hunting....he is a for sure booner!!! I did some bow hunting after I killed the turkey and passed up several deer including a 10 pointer......he was nice, but I only have one buck tag left and I may get a crack at the big boy before it's over.....at least that's the idea!!!

You know, I thought that taking a turkey with a handgun would be lots of fun! And it probably is, But in Oregon, I just found out is illegal to hunt turkeys with anything but a shotgun or a bow! Go Figure!! Nope a .410 won't do.... 20 guage or larger! Bob
