I know i'll get a G2...maybe.... but Jesus, i've got over $1500. worth of wood for these frames, and they won't fit the G2.....If and when it ever comes out.
That's the reason that I haven't really went out of my way to get another frame. I know I want to get a G2 when it's available. Then I would have one of each & that's all I really want. Rich Jake

With the way the cost of firearms are going, the G2 will probably go for about $800 dollars and be equipped with an inflatable lawyer you can take with you to the range.
Seriously, by the time all the BS was said and done with FFL fees and such, that's what my last SS frame went for here in NY. About $235.00 or so.
Rich, I got my last frame before the Ballistic Fingerprint law kicked in here in NY. I heard TC won't sell frames here in NY anymore. You heard anything on this?
I've just heard mumbo jumbo, but no facts. I think it was the dealers who wouldn't take them in, because they didn't come COBIS compliant, and didn't know what to do with them. Another dealer told me the T/C's were one of the few COBIS exempt guns. (true? dunno) Yet I also hear talk of them making them one caliber only, no more changing barrels. How you register it is how it stays. Though I ever found out if that was a county or state thing.

Headstamp I was going to buy an encore a little while back & started loooking into it. Essentially what I got from my locoal cobis center was this.
If you buy a complete gun Frame & Barrel. You had to have a sample. If not then it had to be fired at a cobis center. If you buy a frame only there is nothing to test. Frame must be registered as normal.
The last thing that I heard was that If you had Multiple barrels they have to be registered individually. This part is just rumored. I have not called cobis to confirm it yet. This is for new purchases only. I think that this should be interesting since the barrels don't have any kind of serial # on them. Should be interesting to see how they handle that. I would imagine that they would want some kind of serial # placed on the lug of each barrel. That is only a guess.
If someone kills another someone with their hammer...Will they want a hammer head fingerprint next ?? All this makes me sick. It just shows that people with any common sense are no longer in controll. Sad to say but true!!! Good luck guys. mvm
I'm thinking with the frames drying up and it's worth it to you, go for it. I've been lucky, I have 4 frames and haven't paid more than $175 for a frame and the cheapest was $100 for a SS frame about 2 months ago.

While out and about today I stopped at a pawn shop and they had a SS Contender frame with a 14" 223 hunter barrel and a 14" 22 match with a Leupold 2x pistol scope. The guy wouldn't brake up the set and wouldn't budge off his $950.00 price tag. I tried to tell the guy that even brand new he was looking at less then $800.00. We went back and forth for about 15 mins. after he told me I didn't know what I was talking about. He said...Sir,Could please stop yelling at me. Your vains are popping out of your neck and I think you should leave. He kinda looked like Mike Bellm He did! So I said...yea yea, FU and walked out the door. Tell me I don't know what i'm talking about. What an A--hole. But It was fun while it lasted. BTW, I didn't buy it!

This was a program made by the Governor of our state. It does absolutely nothing to catch a criminal. All it does is harass the legal gun owner. It works under the premise that they would have a sample shell case of any registered firearm. So If/When you commit a crime with said firearm you could be found.
The only problem with this theory is that criminals won't be bringing in their firearms in to give a sample shell case.
The Governor is up for election this year & I have no plans on supporting him because of this issue & a couple of others. This is a rough thing because that means that I will probably let a person in the other party win in order to make a point.

We are in a tough spot as the alternate is worse but at least we would know where they really stood. Pataki was originally elected with our help and then wrote us off.
After one year and millions of dollars implementing this joke. ZERO criminals have been caught with it's assistance.
Revolvers don't eject shells at a crime scene and neither do Contenders. Used pistols don't have to be tested either and all pistols in circulation now are grandfathered. Makes for a real "complete" database..........NOT. Textbook example of "feel good" legislation.
What a waste of tax money. And of course the State Police are roped into the whole thing to waste their time and resources on it.
Ya my last frame new was $225.00 including fees. I bought a contender a couple years ago, brandnew frame, beutiful walnut stock and forend and a very accurate 223 bbl (20-21") for the price of...drum roll please... $200.00 (no shit) HeHe some times I am soooo lucky

There are still a few new blued frames in my area for 212.00..The used frames are sky high as most shops want more than new>>>Trying to get as much as they can out of TC fans.. I've seen used ones lately for 300.00!
have any of you guys looked at the latest issue of guns and ammo? They have a small write up about the G2 on pages 16 and 61 it mentions that the SS and blue model will be released at the same time. It even lists available calibers and barrel lengths. The best part is the suggested retail is listed as $509 for blue and $566 for ss. These are both with the 10" barrels.

Heck at least at least your getting a complete gun for $950. A few gun shows ago I found a used SSK barrel chambered for the 375JDJ, SSK brake, T'SOB mount. Guy wanted $900 for it. He told me that dies for it were over $300 bucks for JDJ calibers. I told him I would come home and pick up my 309JDJ and 375JDJ dies and sell them to him for steal, $400 for both sets. He passed.

I would think 600 would be fair package price if I remember my lines correctly.

Hey Dan, If you go buy there again and it's still there. Go ahead and buy it. I'll send you the cash for it in a heartbeat.
