If I rechamber a 30-30 to Ackley Improved can I use standard 30-30 dies? Who does rechamber jobs on this site.Mike Bellum is always backed up. Mr. White ( I think) has been mentioned on some sites he emailed me once but I lost it.

Quote: Not if you want to keep the AI. The Improved round has a minimum taper body and sharper shoulder than regular. If you resize them with standard dies, you will no longer have the Ackley Improved case. You _may_ be able to use the seating die if you already have a set.

you need 30-30 ackley improved dies. lee now makes inexpensive dies for the caliber. they can be found at http://www.midwayusa.com/ for around $25. redding dies would cost in the neighborhood of $60. david white has his own forum section at bellms site. i think a rechamber is $80 from my reading there. http://www.bellmtcs.com/forum/index.php?s=edfe82d73b50a2a282ff8b4693ed809e hope this helps you out some. i have a 14" 30-30AI factory barrel and love it!

Nope you will not be able to use the .30-30 Winchester Dies to reload the .30-30 Ackley Improved Cartridge like has been stated. I had SSK Industries do the rechamber of my .30 Herrett to .30-30 Ackley Improved. The .30-30 AI is a heck of a cartridge and easy quite easy to load for once the cases are fireformed to the new shape. Good luck with the .30-30 AI, I am sure you will like it as much as everyone else that has one does. SD Handgunner
