FYI For those concerned about Dave, I recieved the following on the DVHDeal e-mail list, and thought I'd pass it along.

Perhaps some more charitable assumptions concerning Dave, upon the part of a few vocal detractors, would have stemmed the flame war of a few days ago. Dave certainly did not deserve such. He took in the bulk orders BEFORE he came down with such a bad illness.

"I spoke with DVH at 6PM EST today.

As I suspected, he has been very sick with infections in his ears and lungs.

He says he is doing his best and appreciates those who are being patient with him. He had no message for those who are not being patient.<G>

He says 10 barrels are done and those folks should be getting an eMail tonite or this weekend, monday at the latest.

All the others are done except for bluing and the notice for them will follow in a few days.

The only barrel not finnished (I know I'm gonna be sorry for telling this) is the muzzleloader. For whatever reason, he is having his ML barrels rifeled by an outside service. He's having 6 barrels done and it may take a while before they are ready, but he hopes the shop doing the rifling will expidite one .45 and one .50 for him.

Thats it for now, I gotta go empty out my piggy bank, two of those badboys are mine."

That explains a lot. I'm sorry to hear of Dave's illness. Hopefully he will recover quickly. It just goes to show you that sometimes there are reasons for why things happen as they do( as far as delays are concerned). Thank you Sean for finding out. I don't have a barrel ordered with Van Horn at this point in time but still would like to give him a chance in the future.

It is nice to hear Dave is doing better. I hate people that are so impatient. I listened to posts on the yahoo group and TC-list that were cries and complaints... Where's my barrel? I remember NO promise of a delivery date, just an honest attempt to provide the barrels by Christmas if possible. I've been waiting for months (5 now) on another custom barrel... So there you have it. I'm expecting one from the Dave VanHorn group purchase, a 270x225Win Imp aka 270JDJ. I hope I see an email this weekend but if not, oh well... it will get here. Not like I can go hunting tomorrow with it. Deer season is closed up in MN now. <grin>
