Ray, Very few Contenders have the ability to get out to 776 yards on small targets, and even fewer out to 1k or just beyond it. Cartridge limitations, mount limitations, factory twists on barrels, and optic limits all add up quickly. One of these days I will have a 22 & a 6 in fast twist barrels made off the 50R case and improved. I just have too many irons in the fire at the moment to buy two match blanks I have no doubt that your rigs are capable of nailing a dog @ 1k.

NOT mine as I AIN'T close to that good, but Ross Bates from our club took a whitetail at 200 plus MEASURED yards with his 14" 7 mm TCU before he sold it and the new owner took one a little further than that. Ross could put them under 1/2" with that gun!

260 yds for a decent Kudu, 225 yds for a nice Gemsbok and 185 yds for a really nice Black Wildebeest(after crawling on my hands/knees/belly for 100yds). Used an Encore with a 12" bull barrel in 378GNR and 260gr. Accubonds @2350fps.

And I thought I did good popping a 1 liter Coke bottle on the 300yd berm with my 15" Encore (my whitetail gun) in 308... You guys are way beyond what I ever hope to do with a Single Shot Handgun.
That would have to be Prarire Dogs at 452 yards with a SS 14" .223 Contender / 3x12x Burris. Actually it took me 6 shots to walk my shots into that PD, but througout the afternoon I took 12 more PD's off of that same mound with 15 more shots.
For bigger game there are two that almost exactly the same. #1 was a nice 4x4 Whitetail Buck at 282 yards (if i remember right) with a 10" 7-30 Waters Contender / 2.5x8x Weaver / 120gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip. The other would have to be the smaller 4x4 Whitetail Buck at 286 yards with the 14" .30-30 AI / 2x7x Burris / 125gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip.
I have shot lots of grounghogs out to 300yds with my 221fb xp-100. i used to have a savage striker in 260 . i killed a few at around 400yds with it. both topped with burris 2x7x32xao scopes.

I think a lot of the distances that have been thought as unapproachable with specialty pistols of all kinds is up for grabs in the very near future. So many advances have been made that the only thing that holds some distance records back is our own disbelief that it is possible. Let the records fall
