Mine is a Contender 14 7/8" bull barrel built by Mike Bellm. Last time I shot it, it printed 11 bullets that you could cover with a dime. Load was 23.5grs of H322 behind a 40gr. Nosler BT.
lit with a CCI BR4 in a Win. case. 2834fps. I have pushed these little bullets over 3000fps with AA 1680 but accuracy dropped of a bit.
It's not the most impressive varmint round but it works great in a Contender. I love it. [Wink]

Jules,
You're killin me. Between you, Fireball and a few others keep bringing up new barrels and calibers. About the time I think you have a ton of barrels, you mention one a don't remember seeing you mention before... I'm sorry, but that's just wrong!

I've been shooting my .222 barrel for about 4 months, now. It's a T/C 14" that I got from Ed's, with a Burris 3-12 scope. It took a while, but I finally have it shooting groups that average around 5/8". My best load, so far, has been 24gr of IMR 4895 with a 53gr Sierra Match King, with CCI BR primers, with Winchester brass.

I've been shooting the .222 for about 25 years in rifles and enjoy it in the Contender even more.

My biggest problem was vertical stringing of the groups, but I was having the same problem with most of my barrels. I have since started using one sandbag, with the trigger guard pushed up against the bag and using a very light grip. This change in shooting position has helped the stringing problem with all the barrels. I'm also using a custom forend that I made, that is free floating except for the two mounting points. I'm now working on a new forend that will mount on a hanger bar from a Pachmayr to see if it will improve the groups.

Just got back from the gun shop, buying more Match Kings. If it doesn't rain, it's back to the range tomorrow.

See, that's EXACTLY what I mean.

I'm taking a 10" 22 up to Mike in a couple of weekends to rechamber to .22 mag, have a 6.5 JDJ (came from when I knew I didn't care for TC barrels, but didn't know of anywhere else to get them), .35 Rem, .223, 7 TCU... Probably a couple others I can't remember.

I've ordered the .444 Marlin Katahdin to offset the .223 bull on the Encore.

Oh yeah, and have a TCR w/ 3 barrels.

I used to think that I was doing ok. But around you guys I definatly have an inferiority complex!

However, I'll be the one at Mike's in a couple weekends. :-)
