Are there any memebers that have hunting experince with the hornady amax out of a 30-30 contender. I am intrested in accuracy and performance on game, also your go to powder. I am also intrested in the 150g. NBT and the Hornady SST. My contender comes with a 12" barrel and I would expect to get about 1900-2000 fps.

Hornady does not offer a 150 grain A-Max in .30 caliber so I am assuming you mean the 155 grainer. This is a relatively soft bullet and will expand down to around 1650 fps; thus, it will do OK from your 12" barrel. Nevertheless, I must add that I've seen some inconsistencies in performance -- broken off jacket sections and the occasional core-jacket separation -- so I would actually recommend something other than the A-Max for hunting (though the A-Max would still be just fine for smaller deer).

I must also add that these inconsistencies were from very early lots of these bullets. And, I have not seen this same phenomenon in the 6.5/140 grain A-Max.

The 125 and 150 grain Ballistic Tips, however, perform exceptionally well at this lower velocity level, offering surgical accuracy, ample tissue destruction and plenty of penetration. In fact, on deer, you'll get an exit from virtually any broadside presentation.

I've killed 5 deer so far this year (crop damage permits) with my G2 Super 14" 30-30AI. Every one, out to 250 yards, has been a "Bang-Flop!"

My load is the 125 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip over IMR 4198 powder for 2600 fps.

The bullets could NOT have performed any better.

Not a lot of experience, but what I have seen so far has really impressed me.
